State Government Finance and System Project Manager

Job Summary:The State Government Finance and System Project Manager leads public-sector modernization engagements. This role serves as a trusted advisor embedded within state, county, and municipal agencies to drive enterprise software initiatives, business process optimizations, and strategic IT transformations. The Project Manager manages client relationships, directs cross-functional project teams, and ensures the successful delivery of varying client-side milestones across multiple simultaneous or sequential engagements.Job Duties:Provides project management support for client project management teams leading software selection, implementations, and system integrationsHandles core systems and staff augmentation roles Develops, builds, and revises procedures and client playbooks for system rolloutsHelps to protect clients from vendor scope creep and monitors project risksOversees documentation, project timelines, and internal and vendor-facing deliverablesOther duties as required to support changing client needs across different agency engagementsSupervisory Responsibilities:Supervises, develops, and trains Project Manager Associates and Senior AssociatesReviews and evaluates work of the Associates and Senior AssociatesProvides verbal and written performance feedback to Associates and Senior AssociatesQualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Education:Bachelor’s degree, required; focus in Business, Accounting or Finance, preferredExperience:Five (5) or more years of experience in project management, requiredFamiliar with ERP systems & technology implementation best practices (eg. Infor, Workday, Netsuite, Tyler, OpenGov, etc.), preferredExperience with State and Local Government, nonprofit, and other highly regulated industries, preferredLicense/Certifications:CAPM or PMP, requiredSmartSheet certifications, preferredSoftware:Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office suite, specifically Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, requiredSmartSheet experience, preferredSharePoint experience, preferredLanguage:N/AOther Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:Excellent verbal and written communication skills, specifically business / report writingStrong analytical and basic research skills Solid organizational skills, especially the ability to meet project deadlines with a focus on detailsAbility to successfully multi-task while working independently or within a group environmentAbility to work in a deadline-driven environment and handle multiple projects simultaneously Ability to work with minimal supervisionIndividual salaries that are offered to a candidate are determined after consideration of numerous factors including but not limited to the candidate’s qualifications, experience, skills, and geography.Maryland Range: $120,000 - $165,000New Jersey Range: $120,000 - $165,000At BDO, how we show up matters.
