About this Job MedStar Health is looking for a Cardiac Interventional Technologist II to join our team at Medstar Franklin Square Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland. We offer a limited‑time $10,000 sign‑on bonus. The Cardiac Interventional Technologist II will perform angiographic, therapeutic, and interventional procedures and is responsible for patient management prior to, during, and after the procedure. Primary Duties Administer contrast media into the coronary arteries as directed by a cardiologist during cardiac catheterization procedures. Recognize the effect of pathology and vital signs to determine the appropriate pressure for each hand injection. Apply knowledge of the normal physiologic and electrocardiographic sequences of cardiac contraction and recognize both minor and dangerous arrhythmias. Provide appropriate patient care and serve as first assistant to the physician by scrubbing independently and aiding in the manipulation and placement of guide wires and catheters. Administer contrast media according to physician instruction. Schedule and maintain orderly patient flow. Maintain adequate interventional and cardiac supplies, all appropriate patient records and department check sheets, and order supplies from outside vendors in the hospital purchasing system. Assist the supervisor with inventory control and correctly enter patient and supply information into the RIS and/or hospital computer system. Perform hemodynamic physiologic monitoring, record calculations of cardiovascular procedures, angiographic, therapeutic, and interventional imaging procedures. Perform electrophysiology and ablation procedures and provide quality patient care and monitoring during all phases of the procedure in accordance with physician instructions and established policy. Operate emergency equipment safely and respond to on‑call emergencies in accordance with department policy. Perform pre‑procedural duties such as sterile tray preparation, procedural patient education, confirmation of required lab work, and patient medical history, including indications for the study and all related exams. Perform post‑procedural duties including observation and management of catheter and/or device insertion site, patient discharge instructions, and provide patient transportation and communication of patient care status to the receiving care unit. Safely operate all imaging equipment (digital equipment, pressure injectors, processors, rapid film changer, and cine) to produce high‑quality diagnostic images in accordance with departmental policy. Qualifications Satisfactory completion of an AMA‑approved school of Radiologic Technology of at least two years duration. Two years of experience in diagnostic radiology. Experience in interventional radiology/cardiac catheterization or equivalent. American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT) certification or registration. Radiology Technologist license in the State of Maryland. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification or eligibility.
