Water/Sewer Operator Levels I, II, or III The Town of Essex is seeking a Water/Sewer Operator Class I, II, or III in the Water/Sewer Division of Public Works. This is a full‑time hourly position with excellent benefits. The pay range for this position is $22.00 to $32.00 per hour; the starting salary varies with experience. The Town will provide on‑the‑job training and will pay for all required trainings and licensures, including a CDL and a Class D Water Operators License upon hire or within the first year of employment. The responsibilities of the role include maintaining the Town of Essex’s water and sewer system, ensuring reliable service for residents, and responding to changing priorities with flexibility and a willingness to learn. This position is not located at a wastewater or drinking water treatment facility. The Town of Essex will consider any combination of education and experience that enables a candidate to perform successfully. The candidate who meets the objectives of the position will be hired, so we encourage applicants with non‑traditional skill sets and experiences. This position is covered by the AFSCME union contract.
