Position Title Ranch Manager Name of Ranch/Business LLC Ranch Location Jack County, TX Description of Operation We are seeking an experienced, hands‑on working Ranch Manager to lead all operations on a multi‑faceted regenerative ranch in North Texas. We are initiating the building of a vegetable crop farm, a regenerative livestock operation (cattle, sheep, and chickens with rotational grazing and soil health focus), and a high‑fenced exotic game preserve. The ideal candidate is a self‑starter with strong leadership skills, knowledge of regenerative agriculture, wildlife management, and Texas ranching regulations. You will be responsible for maximizing productivity, sustainability, animal health, habitat quality, and profitability while maintaining a safe, professional, and team‑friendly environment. We are just starting to implement plans and are looking for the right person to assist in the overall creation of the farm and livestock operations on the ranch. We seek someone hands‑on, self‑starting, and willing to oversee additional team members to ensure we achieve our goals and timelines. Required Qualifications 5+ years ranch management experience, preferably with mixed operations (crops + livestock + wildlife). Proven success in regenerative agriculture (rotational grazing, soil health, cover cropping). Knowledge of Texas exotic game management and TPWD regulations. Experience with vegetable crop production. Strong mechanical skills (equipment maintenance, fencing, construction). Valid driver’s license; ability to operate heavy machinery. Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills. Proficiency with digital communications and record keeping. Physical ability to perform ranch labor (lifting, fencing, animal handling). Preferred Qualifications Degrees/certifications in agriculture, animal science, wildlife management, or related field. Familiarity with NRCS conservation programs and grants. Experience with high‑fence exotic operations. Knowledge of Texas water rights, ag valuation, and tax exemptions. Firearm proficiency and hunter safety certification. Working Conditions Full‑time, year‑round; at times includes weekends/holidays during peak seasons (planting, calving, hunting). Exposure to Texas weather. Occasional overnight stays or travel for livestock/exotic/farm activities. Key Responsibilities Overall Ranch Leadership & Operations Develop and execute annual operational plans, budgets, and long‑term goals aligned with regenerative principles. Oversee all daily ranch activities across crops, livestock, exotics, and infrastructure. Ensure compliance with all state/federal regulations (TPWD exotic permits, TDA crop/livestock rules, TAHC animal health, TCEQ water rights, Jack CAD ag valuation). Manage risk, insurance, emergency preparedness, and safety protocols. Vegetable Crop Production Plan and manage regenerative vegetable farming (rotations, cover crops, no‑till, composting, IPM). Oversee soil health, irrigation, planting, pest/disease control, harvesting, transportation, and storage. Track inputs, yields, costs, and profitability; implement water‑conservation practices. Regenerative Livestock Management Manage herd health, breeding, nutrition, and welfare for cattle, sheep, and chickens. Implement intensive rotational/mob grazing to build soil, improve pasture, and increase carrying capacity. Build and maintain fencing, water systems, and supplemental feeding; maintain detailed records for traceability and compliance. Exotic Game Management (High‑Fence Operation) Monitor and maintain healthy populations of exotic species (counts, health checks, sourcing, culling, transportation). Create and manage habitat (food plots, browse, water sources, native plantings) for sustainability and trophy quality. Oversee high‑fence maintenance (8 ft+ fencing, gates, cameras, repairs). Assist in hunting activities (non‑commercial). Ensure full compliance with TPWD exotic wildlife rules (annual reports, permits, harvest records). Infrastructure & Property Maintenance Supervise repairs and improvements to fences, roads, buildings, barns, lodges, wells, ponds, and equipment. Manage heavy equipment operation (tractors, dozers, mowers) and maintenance schedules. Oversee water infrastructure (wells, troughs, rainwater systems) for efficient use. Implement erosion control, brush management, and habitat enhancements. Financial & Administrative Duties Prepare and manage annual budgets; track expenses/revenue across all enterprises. Maintain records for tax exemptions (ag/timber valuation), grants (NRCS, EQIP), and certifications. Handle purchasing, vendor relations, payroll, and invoicing. Market products/services (vegetables, meat, hunts, breeding stock) via website, social media, and direct sales. Team Leadership & Guest Relations Hire, train, schedule, and supervise ranch hands, seasonal workers, and hunting guides. Conduct performance reviews, safety training, and team meetings. Host guests (hunters, farm visitors, potential buyers) with professionalism and hospitality. Foster a positive, safety‑first culture aligned with regenerative values.
