Pay: Starting pay rate: $72,500-$73,900 (Pay band: $72,000-$79,500)

Work Location: 75 Laguna Street, San Francisco, CA 94102
On-Site/Hybrid: On-site required/Hybrid available 1 day/week

Schedule: 40 Hours per week: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday in general:

1-3 Saturdays a month are required to support program and occasional evening and Sunday hours may be required.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Manager of Intergenerational Programs is responsible for the development, implementation, and oversight of high-quality intergenerational programs and services that reduce social isolation and promote health, well-being, belonging, and community connectedness among Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Gender Nonconforming, Intersex, and Two-Spirit (LGBTQIA2S+) older adults and adults with disabilities. The position creates and supports opportunities for authentic relationships and meaningful engagement among LGBTQIA2S+ people across generations.

The Manager of Intergenerational Programs oversees the service delivery of existing intergenerational programs, including The Friendly Visitor Program, Creativity Connects, and Second Saturdays, while developing strategies to identify, reach, and engage LGBTQIA2S+ older adults and adults with disabilities who are isolated, underserved, or disconnected from community. The position uses community input, program outcome surveys, and emerging needs to strengthen programs, expand participation, and increase opportunities for meaningful intergenerational connection.

The Manager trains and supervises program staff to ensure they have the guidance, resources, training, and professional support needed to successfully carry out their responsibilities. The Manager establishes clear expectations, provides regular supervision and feedback, supports staff development and problem-solving, and promotes a collaborative, respectful, and inclusive team environment. In collaboration with the Manager of Volunteer Engagement, the position supports the recruitment, training, placement, and ongoing engagement of volunteers participating in intergenerational programs such as Friendly Visitor, Creativity Connects, and special Intergenerational events. The Manager of Intergenerational Programs is a member of the broader Community Engagement team and works closely with other managers to coordinate programs, align team priorities, share information and resources, and identify opportunities for collaboration.

The position is responsible for the effective administration and oversight of a government funded grant through the Department of Disability & Aging Services (DAS) supporting intergenerational programs, including compliance, documentation, reporting, performance measurement, and achievement of grant outcomes.

This position reports to the Director of Community Engagement.

The percentage allocations listed above are estimates and may shift based on operational priorities, staffing needs, program activity levels, and organizational demands. Openhouse reserves the right to adjust the distribution of duties while maintaining the essential nature of the position.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Program Leadership, Planning & Development

• Provide leadership and oversight for the planning, implementation, coordination, and continuous improvement of intergenerational programs and services to reach socially isolated and underserved LGBTQ+ older adults and adults with disabilities.
• Manage established programs, including the Friendly Visitor Program, Creativity Connects, and monthly Saturday intergenerational programming, ensuring programs are responsive to community needs and organizational priorities. The role does require
• Identify opportunities to enhance existing programs and develop new initiatives that foster meaningful, authentic connections among LGBTQIA2S+ people across generations.
• Ensure programs are accessible, inclusive, affirming, participant-centered, and aligned with best practices in community engagement and social connection.
• Monitor program goals, participation, outcomes, and community feedback and use this information to inform program planning.
• Manage program schedules, activities, staffing, volunteers, community partnerships, and other resources for effective program delivery.
• This position does require flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends in support of Intergenerational programs and community events. Weekend and evening schedules will generally be planned in advance and may vary based on program needs.

Staff Supervision & Team Leadership

• Supervise, support, and develop program staff.
• Provide regular supervision, feedback, coaching, and guidance.
• Establish clear expectations and support staff in meeting program goals.
• Identify training and professional development needs.
• Promote a collaborative, respectful, inclusive, and supportive team environment.

Community Engagement & Intergenerational Partnerships

• Build and support existing relationships with LGBTQIA2S+ community members, organizations and partners.
• Develop strategies to identify and engage LGBTQIA2S+ older adults and adults with disabilities experiencing social isolation and loss of sense of community.
• Support recruitment and engagement of participants and volunteers.
• Collaborate with Manager of Volunteer Engagement on recruitment, training, placement, and support of volunteers involved in programs such as Friendly Visitor, Creativity Connects and Saturday programming.
• Foster meaningful connections among LGBTQIA2S+ people across generations.

Grant Administration, Documentation & Compliance

• Manage the implementation of Department of Disability & Aging Services (DAS) funded grant supporting Intergenerational Programming.
• Maintain required program documentation, records, and data.
• Track grant deliverables, timelines, outcomes, and performance measures.
• Prepare required reports and supporting documentation for annual DAS program monitoring.
• Ensure compliance with grant requirements and organizational policies.
• Collaborate with internal staff responsible for finance, budgets, contracts and reporting as needed.

Program Administration, Evaluation & Cross-Departmental Coordination

• Manage day-to-day program operations and ensure high-quality programming for LGBTQIA2S+ older adults and adults with disabilities.
• Develop and maintain program procedures, newsletter submissions, flyers, program schedules, and tracking systems.
• Collect and review program data and participant feedback from surveys to inform program improvements.
• Participate in planning and coordination with other Community Engagement managers.
• Collaborate across programs to align priorities, share resources, and identify opportunities for partnership.
• Participate in department and organizational meetings, planning activities, and initiatives.

Mandated Reporting Responsibilities

This position is designated as a Mandated Reporter under California Welfare & Institutions Code §15630 (Dependent Adult and Elder Abuse Reporting Act). The Intergenerational Engagement Coordinator is legally required to:

• Immediately report suspected elder or dependent adult abuse to Adult Protective Services (APS) or appropriate authorities
• Complete required written follow-up reports within statutory timelines
• Participate in mandated reporter training as required by DAS and state law
• Maintain documentation of compliance with reporting obligations

Failure to fulfill mandated reporting responsibilities may result in disciplinary action and potential legal consequences.

Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Demonstrated experience supervising staff, volunteers, programs, or community-based initiatives, with the ability to provide clear direction, support staff development and manage competing priorities.
• 3-5 years experience working with older adults or equivalent experience working with other populations with unique socialization and service needs including but not limited to dementia and Alzheimer’s disease, behavioral health, caregiver wellness, traumatic brain injury, etc.
• Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, logistics, and relationships simultaneously.
• Sensitivity to and knowledge of the unique life experiences, challenges, and strengths of the communities supported by Openhouse’s mission and experience responding to these
• Strong program management with experience planning, coordinating, implementing, and evaluating programs, events and services in a non-profit, community-based setting.
• Excellent collaboration skills to develop and maintain and foster relationships with social service providers, community-based organizations, and other stakeholders.
• Exceptional communication and relationship building: strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communications skills, with the ability to build trusting relationships with community members, staff, volunteers, community partners, and other stakeholders.
• Inclusive and collaborative leader with demonstrated ability to lead with empathy, cultural humility, and respect for people with diverse identities, backgrounds, ages, and abilities.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite of products (Word, Excel, Outlook) and the ability to quickly learn software programs, online databases and tools.
• Ability to collaborate with multi-disciplinary team to assess community member needs.
• Fluency in written and spoken English

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience working in a nonprofit, social services, community-based or other mission driven organization
• Experience designing, managing, and designing programs that intentionally bring together LGBTQIA2S+ people across generations and create meaningful opportunities for connection, learning and belonging.
• Familiarity with issues affecting LGBTQIA2S+ older adults, including social isolation, caregiving, housing, health and wellness, accessibility, and the impact of discrimination across the lifespan.
• Experience incorporating accessibility and disability inclusion into program design, communications, events, and community engagement.
• Experience developing and maintaining relationships with community organizations, and other partners to strengthen programs and expand community reach.
• Experience collecting and using participant feedback, outcomes, and other information to assess programs for continuous improvement and growth opportunities.,
• Experience managing a government-funded contract including meeting contract requirements, tracking deliverables and outcomes, maintaining documentation, and supporting timely reporting and compliance.
• Experience managing program budgets, tracking expenses, coordinating resources, and working with vendors.
• Experience coordinating programs, community events, including managing logistics, communications, accessibility, volunteers, and day-of-implementation.

• Ability to travel independently throughout San Francisco
• Ability to independently navigate residential environments
• Ability to operate a computer and office equipment up to 8 hours per day
• Ability to regularly lift and carry up to 35 pounds
• Ability to work in a shared office environment
• Additional program related obligations such as room set up and breakdown
• Physical skills and abilities to perform work required, such as commuting and transporting from Openhouse offices to community member homes.
