Overview
Sosta Caffè is a family-run Italian restaurant in Pembroke Pines serving fresh, made-to-order food in a fast-paced, close-knit kitchen. We're hiring cooks for both full-time and part-timepositions.
Duties
- Prepare and cook menu items following established recipes and portioning standards
- Handle daily prep including sauces, doughs, mise en place, and portioning
- Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, including knives, slicers, ovens, flat tops, and fryers
- Prepare ingredients through slicing, chopping, and proper food handling techniques to ensure consistency and quality
- Maintain cleanliness of workstations, utensils, and kitchen surfaces in accordance with food safety standards
- Work the line during service, plate dishes to presentation standards, and keep tickets moving on time
- Follow safety protocols during food production to prevent cross-contamination and ensure compliance with health regulations
- Receive and rotate deliveries, monitor product freshness, and help control waste
- Support catering orders and private event prep as needed
- Collaborate with kitchen and front-of-house staff to communicate about ticket timing, special dietary requests, and inventory levels
Skills
- Proven experience in a restaurant, café, or commercial kitchen environment
- Experience with Italian cuisine strongly preferred — pasta cookery, sauces, and traditional preparations
- Experience in Kitchen setting REQUIRED
- Familiarity with operating various kitchen equipment safely and efficiently
- Ability to handle multiple tickets simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail
- Effective communication skills for coordinating with kitchen staff and other team members
- Knowledge of recipe adherence and plate presentation standards
- Commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene in all aspects of food handling
- English or Spanish; bilingual is a plus
- Able to stand for extended shifts and lift up to 50 lbs
Schedule: Full-time (35–40 hrs/week) and part-time (15–25 hrs/week) available. Day and evening shifts. Weekend availability required.
