Job Description

Job Summary:

The Respiratory Therapist administers specialized respiratory care to patients of all ages, from neonates to geriatric populations, to manage and treat cardiopulmonary deficiencies and abnormalities. The role involves coordinating patient treatments, monitoring equipment, and providing education to patients and their families to ensure optimal respiratory health.

Responsibilities:

• Provide respiratory therapy treatments, including nebulization, medication administration, and oxygen therapy, tailored to patient age and condition.
• Operate, monitor, and troubleshoot mechanical ventilators and critical care equipment to ensure patient safety and treatment efficacy.
• Perform arterial blood gas sampling through arterial punctures, adhering to safety protocols and understanding potential risks.
• Assess patient needs, response to treatments, and tolerance levels, adjusting care plans accordingly.
• Document all procedures, assessments, and patient responses accurately in electronic health records.
• Educate patients and families about respiratory conditions, treatment plans, and home care instructions, ensuring understanding and compliance.

Qualifications:

• Hold Montana Licensure as a Registered Respiratory Therapist.
• Possess NBRC Respiratory Therapist Certification.
• Maintain BLS certification through the American Heart Association.
• Acquire ACLS and PALS certifications within 3 months of employment.
• Preferred: Certification in Neonatal-Pediatric Specialist (NBRC-NPS) and/or Adult Critical Care Specialist (NBRC-ACCS).
