Position Overview

Gateway Physical Therapy is looking for a dedicated and skilled Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) to join our team in Pasadena, California. In this full-time role, you will play a vital part in delivering high-quality rehabilitative care to our patients. Your primary responsibility will be to assist in the implementation of tailored therapeutic treatment plans designed by our licensed Physical Therapists, ensuring that each patient's rehabilitation journey is effective and positive.

Work Environment

You will work onsite within a hospital setting that emphasizes teamwork, collaboration, and patient-centered care. Our state-of-the-art facility is equipped with modern therapeutic tools and modalities, allowing for a dynamic and supportive work atmosphere. The work schedule consists of Monday through Friday, from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with the occasional need for flexibility to meet the demands of patient care.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist licensed Physical Therapists in implementing individualized treatment plans aimed at improving patient mobility, strength, and overall functionality.
• Guide patients through therapeutic exercises, stretches, and rehabilitation activities, fostering motivation and supporting pain relief initiatives.
• Educate patients on proper exercise techniques and body mechanics to ensure safe practices both in the clinic and at home.
• Administer various therapeutic modalities, including electrical stimulation, ultrasound, and heat/cold therapy, while adhering to protocols and safety guidelines.
• Monitor and document patient progress meticulously, assessing range of motion, strength gains, and functional improvements to inform ongoing treatment adjustments.
• Prepare treatment areas and ensure all equipment and supplies are organized and available for therapy sessions, creating an efficient workflow.
• Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team of healthcare professionals, including Physical Therapists, Occupational Therapists, and Speech-Language Pathologists, to optimize patient outcomes.
• Provide encouragement and emotional support to patients during their recovery, strengthening their trust and comfort throughout their rehabilitation process.
• Maintain the highest standards of ethical practice, ensuring patient confidentiality and respecting their rights at all times.

Patient Population / Client Focus

Your role will directly impact a diverse array of patients, including individuals recovering from surgeries, athletes recovering from sports injuries, elderly patients needing rehabilitation due to age-related conditions, and children requiring specialized rehabilitative services. This position requires adaptability and a keen understanding of various physical therapy interventions tailored to meet the unique needs of these populations.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program with an Associate's degree is required.
• Possession of a valid state license or certification as a Physical Therapist Assistant in California.
• Comprehensive understanding of anatomy, physiology, and the fundamentals of therapeutic interventions related to physical therapy.
• Demonstrable proficiency in implementing therapeutic exercises and modalities under supervision.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills conducive to building rapport with patients and collaborating effectively with team members.
• A patient-centered approach to care, characterized by compassion and a genuine desire to help patients achieve rehabilitation goals.
• Ability to cater to diverse patient needs, tailoring treatment strategies accordingly.

Preferred Experience

• Previous experience working in a rehabilitation or clinical setting is preferred.

Compensation and Benefits
