Job Description
The Employee Relations Manager serves as the primary subject matter expert for employee relations matters, partnering with leaders to resolve workplace concerns, conduct investigations, mitigate risk, and ensure consistent application of employment policies and practices. This role manages a high-volume caseload of employee relations matters ranging from routine workplace concerns to complex investigations involving harassment, discrimination, retaliation, misconduct, and other sensitive issues.
The ideal candidate is an experienced investigator with strong business judgment, exceptional conflict resolution skills, and the ability to independently assess risk, navigate complex situations, and drive timely, practical solutions.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Psychology, Organizational Leadership, or related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
- 5+ years of direct employee relations and workplace investigations experience.
- Demonstrated experience leading complex investigations involving employee misconduct, discrimination, harassment, retaliation, EEO-related complaints, and policy violations.
- Strong understanding of federal, state, and employment laws and regulations.
- Proven ability to assess credibility, identify risk, conduct thorough investigations, and make sound recommendations.
- Experience advising leaders on corrective action, performance management, and terminations.
- Excellent conflict resolution, mediation, interviewing, documentation, and report-writing skills.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage a high-volume caseload and competing priorities.
- Ability to work independently while partnering effectively with leaders, HR, and legal stakeholders.
- Experience with HRIS platforms; ADP Workforce Now experience is a plus.
- PHR/SPHR certification preferred.
Responsibilities
- Manage a high-volume employee relations caseload, typically ranging from 20-30 active cases and periodically higher.
- Conduct impartial investigations into employee complaints, misconduct, workplace conflicts, harassment, discrimination, retaliation, and other employee relations matters.
- Gather and analyze evidence, conduct interviews, assess credibility, document findings, and prepare investigation summaries and recommendations.
- Partner with leaders to address employee concerns and determine appropriate corrective actions, coaching plans, disciplinary actions, and terminations.
- Facilitate prompt, fair, and consistent resolution of workplace issues while minimizing organizational risk.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and applicable employment laws.
- Maintain thorough documentation of investigations, findings, outcomes, and recommendations.
- Advise managers on employee relations best practices, performance management, conflict resolution, and policy application.
- Identify trends, recurring issues, and risk areas, providing recommendations for process improvement and mitigation strategies.
- Support policy development, training initiatives, and employee relations projects as needed.
- Collaborate closely with HR leadership and legal partners on complex or high-risk matters.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to leaders and employees on workplace concerns and policy interpretation.
Work Environment
- Supports a workforce of approximately 600 employees, including seasonal team members.
- Fully onsite position.
- Standard business hours, Monday through Friday.
