Stepping Stones Child Development Centers is hiring dependable, energetic Before & After School Teachers to support children at locations in Hillside and Irvington, NJ. This role offers two schedule options: Before & After School from 7:00–8:30 AM and 2:30–6:30 PM, or After School Only from 2:30–6:30 PM. The position pays $17 per hour and reports to the Site Supervisor. Teachers will work with preschool-aged children, elementary school children, and mixed school-age groups.
Responsibilities
- Supervise children and maintain a safe, supportive environment.
- Plan and lead homework support, games, arts and crafts, outdoor recreation, and enrichment clubs.
- Assist children with homework and provide age-appropriate activities.
- Manage classroom routines and guide behavior positively.
- Monitor safety and follow established safety procedures.
- Track attendance and communicate with parents and guardians.
- Prepare and serve snacks as appropriate.
Preferred Qualifications
- Entry-level experience in school-age childcare.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Knowledge of child development, classroom management, youth recreation, behavior management, safety procedures, or activity planning.
- Strong communication skills, patience, and reliability.
