Space Planning Coordinator

Space Planner
The Space Planner supports facility layout planning, drafting, and the execution of approved equipment-movement projects within a regulated pharmaceutical manufacturing environment. This role requires strong technical drafting skills, hands-on coordination with contractors, and the ability to translate conceptual layouts into executable plans that comply with GMP, safety, and operational requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, update, and maintain facility layouts, equipment drawings, and space plans using AutoCAD, SketchUp, or similar drafting tools.
- Support the creation of as-built drawings, equipment placement diagrams, and workflow layouts for manufacturing, utilities, and support areas.
- Collaborate with engineering, maintenance, EHS, operations, and quality teams to ensure layouts meet GMP, safety, and regulatory requirements.
- Execute approved layout changes, including coordinating equipment moves, space reconfigurations, and infrastructure adjustments.
- Work directly with assigned contractors and internal teams to implement equipment relocation plans safely and efficiently.
- Conduct field verifications, measurements, and walkdowns to ensure drawing accuracy and alignment with real conditions.
- Assist in project planning activities such as scope definition, scheduling, resource coordination, and progress tracking.
- Maintain organized drawing libraries, revision histories, and documentation in compliance with internal procedures.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives related to space utilization, workflow optimization, and facility organization.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or technical education in Architecture, Drafting, Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical), or related field.
- 2–5 years of experience in drafting, space planning, or facility layout design.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, SketchUp, or equivalent drafting/modeling software.
- Experience working in regulated manufacturing industries such as pharmaceuticals, medical devices, biotechnology, food & beverage, or similar.
- Strong understanding of GMP environments, equipment footprints, utilities, and workflow considerations.
- Project management skills, including coordination, scheduling, and contractor oversight.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, equipment specifications, and architectural plans.
- Strong communication, organization, and teamwork abilities.
