About the Role

The Company is seeking a Vice President of Design for the Interborough Express project, a significant initiative aimed at creating a new transit connection between underserved neighborhoods in Brooklyn and Queens. The successful candidate will be responsible for the design development, design compliance, and system-wide governance of the project, ensuring the incorporation of the latest technology and best practices in a safe, cost-effective, and timely manner. This role involves overseeing all design aspects, including corridor modifications and the light rail system itself, and requires active participation in procurement, environmental review, project financing, and community engagement. The Vice President of Design will also be tasked with monitoring project status, mitigating risks, and resolving issues, as well as coordinating with various stakeholders to ensure full compliance with all relevant standards and requirements. Candidates for the Vice President of Design position should have a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, a minimum of 16 years' of related experience, and at least 10 years' in a management or supervisory role within a large, multi-faceted organization. A Professional Engineer or Registered Architect license is preferred, along with expertise in design standards development, safety certification, and regulatory compliance management. The role demands excellent communication, interpersonal skills, and the ability to work effectively in a high-pressure environment. Experience in systems integration, interface management, and alternative delivery methods is also desirable. The ideal candidate will be a proven leader, a change agent, and a creative thinker, capable of aligning business goals with innovative solutions to drive process improvements.
