Data Engineer

Overview EZ Texting is seeking a Data Engineer to take ownership of our data pipelines, data integrity, security, and infrastructure. You’ll work with a modern, high-performing data stack, including BigQuery, Fivetran, Apache Airflow, and dbt, to drive reliable and scalable data solutions across the organization. You’ll act as a strategic partner and internal consultant to our Business Intelligence Analysts, Analytics Engineers, and future Data Scientists. This position reports to the Director of Business Intelligence. We are currently only hiring in CA, NY, TX, MA, WA, GA, PA, FL, TN, and DC . At this time, we are not able to consider candidates outside of these states. Responsibilities Build data pipelines, data integrity testing, data security, and other data engineering infrastructure alongside the Senior Data Engineers and Management Collaborate with Analytics Engineering and Business Intelligence to supply the data required for various data products and multiple stakeholders Design and continuously improve data workflows using BigQuery, Fivetran, Apache Airflow, and dbt Manage and communicate project status to project management, business stakeholders, and technical resources Plan and manage project tasks to develop product management and Scrum skills Take a consultative approach to development, execution, and recommendations Perform related duties as assigned by management Create technical documentation Deliver high-quality code and design documents with mentorship from senior data teammates and management Be versatile and willing to take on new challenges across different projects and technologies Demonstrate urgency to deliver on time while prioritizing work and estimating complexity in advance Required Skills 2+ years’ experience writing complex SQL and using dbt 2+ years’ experience in Python 2+ years’ experience building ETL workflows (including reverse ETL) using tools like Fivetran 2+ years’ experience building complex orchestration pipelines Experience building automated testing into the data infrastructure Experience with relational database structures, dimensional modeling, and data warehousing Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines Experience with Git and JIRA Working knowledge of Google Cloud Platform (GCP), including BigQuery Experience using Apache Airflow (or similar orchestration tools) Experience with Agile methodologies and cross-functional Scrum teams Strong communication skills and professional interaction with colleagues Experience working for a SaaS company in a startup environment What We Offer Compensation : This role is eligible for equity and benefits listed below. Depending on location, starting cash compensation range (Base Salary + Variable Target) vs base salary only is: Tier 1 (Bay Area, NYC, SEA): $119,000 - $156,000 Tier 4 (Other): $93,000 - $131,500 Our compensation ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range reflects target cash compensation for new hires in major metropolitan areas. Actual compensation varies based on location, skills, experience, and capabilities, as well as internal benchmarking.
