Chief Program Officer

Catholic Charities of Long Island (CCLI) is seeking an experienced, mission-driven Chief Program Officer (CPO) to provide strategic and operational leadership across its diverse network of human services.

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the CPO will be a visible and influential member of the executive leadership team, responsible for ensuring that CCLI's ministries are operationally strong, financially sustainable, strategically aligned, and deeply rooted in the mission and teachings of the Catholic Church.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership and oversight of CCLI's ministry operations and senior program staff across Addiction Treatment, Senior Services, Maternity & Nutrition, Mental Health, Residential Services, Parish Social Ministry, and CARES.
• Ensure Catholic identity, Gospel values, and Catholic Social Teaching are integrated throughout ministry operations.
• Partner with the CEO and Executive Team on strategy, organizational priorities, and Board communications.
• Develop innovative approaches to service delivery and identify opportunities for program growth.
• Strengthen relationships with diocesan leadership, government agencies, funders, clergy, parishes, and community partners.
• Support grant development, fundraising, donor engagement and financial sustainability.
• Recruit, develop, and mentor ministry leaders and build a culture of excellence and accountability.
• Lead organizational responses to emergencies and other significant operational challenges.
• Represent Catholic Charities with internal and external audiences, as directed by the CEO.

Qualifications:

The successful candidate will be a strategic, collaborative, and values-driven nonprofit executive with strong operational and financial acumen, exceptional communication skills, sound judgment, and a passion for serving vulnerable individuals and families, in addition to the below:

• Master's degree in Business Administration, Human Services, or related field.
• 10+ years of nonprofit operations/program management experience.
• 5+ years of clinical experience in health or human services.
• 3+ years of supervisory/leadership experience.
• Experience with grants, fundraising, and financial management.
• Strong understanding of Catholic Social Teaching.
• Practicing Roman Catholic committed to the mission and teachings of the Catholic Church.
• Must have the ability to travel frequently and independently to various CCLI locations throughout Long Island and possess a reliable means of transportation.
• Catholic theology education and/or professional licensure in a human services discipline preferred.

Rate of Pay: $170,000 - $190,000 per year

This rate of pay serves as a good faith estimate. Actual pay is based on a number of factors which may include a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies, experience and work location. The salary range or rate listed does not include any differential pay or other forms of compensation, such as the value of benefits, which may be applicable to this position.
