• Schenectady, NY - $63,678 to $120,050
• Pittsburgh, PA - $63,815 to $120,309
• Washington, D.C. - $70,623 to 133,142

The BR-02 pay band is equivalent to the GS-09/11/12 grade levels.

Duties

Help

• You will manage and administer personnel, physical, industrial and sensitive/classified information security programs.
• You will monitor the operating effectiveness of internal security programs.
• You will apply knowledge of security regulations and policies to ensure security protection of documents, and assist in obtaining legal access to data needed to accomplish assigned tasks.
• You will initiate personnel security investigations with both Department of the Navy (DON) and Department of Energy (DOE) security offices.
• You will assess existing requirements and determine unknowns in formulating security policies.
• You will be responsible for the analysis and resolution of conventional and unconventional personnel security problems, questions, and situations such as fitness for duty and suitability for employment, and access to restricted information.

• You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
• This may be a Drug Testing position. If so, successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required.
• A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You may be subject to random drug testing.
• This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
• This position may be subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the next lower pay band, BR-01 (GS-07 Equivalent) , in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector supporting personnel security operations to protect or safeguard classified, sensitive, or restricted information and materials from unauthorized personnel and disclosure.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.

Education

In lieu of specialized experience, you may qualify with the following education or combination of both education and experience:

• successful completion of a master's or equivalent graduate degree; -OR-
• successful completion of two full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's degree; -OR-
• obtained an LL.B. or J.D. that is related to the position being filled; -OR-
• a combination of experience and graduate education as described above that equates to one year of experience.
