Job Title: Site Superintendent – Solar Construction Job Description
The Site Superintendent oversees day-to-day field operations for utility-scale solar construction projects, ensuring safe, high-quality, and on-schedule delivery within budget. This role requires a well-organized, experienced construction professional who provides on-site leadership, coordinates subcontractors and materials, and drives quality control on solar farms in locations such as Pittsville and Woodstock, MD.
Responsibilities- Lead daily on-site activities for solar farm construction, maintaining a consistent presence on the job site.
- Attend site walks and pre-construction planning meetings with construction management, project management, and engineering teams as required.
- Manage and maintain the construction schedule, providing daily updates and documentation through Procore and other reporting tools to construction and project managers.
- Monitor and communicate project-related safety, quality, and subcontractor performance to the construction manager.
- Set clear goals for all subcontractors in coordination with the construction manager and motivate teams to stay on task and meet milestones.
- Attend all First Article Inspections (FAI) and lead these inspections when the construction manager is not available.
- Perform QA/QC inspections in coordination with quality management, maintaining an up-to-date daily inspection log through all phases of the project.
- Conduct Stormwater Pollution Prevention (SWPPP) inspections as required and promptly report any deficiencies to construction and project managers.
- Participate in weekly subcontractor calls and other coordination meetings as requested.
- Coordinate delivery of materials and equipment to optimize job efficiency and minimize downtime.
- Inspect all delivered equipment, collect and upload related documentation, and report any deficiencies or missing components to the construction manager.
- Coordinate with subcontractors daily and initiate requests for information (RFIs) through the construction manager when clarification is needed.
- Contribute feedback and creative problem-solving ideas to project team members to improve processes and resolve field issues.
- Adhere to established safety standards and installation best practices throughout the project.
- Take responsibility for the safety of all crew members, proactively addressing unsafe conditions and enforcing safety compliance when necessary.
- Identify and address non-compliance with safety or quality standards, including disciplining crew members when required.
- Travel to sites outside the primary territory as needed to support other projects.
- Inspect and verify quality of mechanical, civil, and electrical installations for solar arrays, ensuring compliance with drawings, specifications, and codes.
- Use scheduling software and project tools to plan, organize, and track work progress and resource allocation.
- Recognize and help resolve potential labor or industrial relations issues in coordination with leadership.
- Manage conflicts on site by facilitating communication and guiding parties toward constructive resolution.
- Assess and manage project risks, escalating issues when necessary to protect schedule, budget, and safety.
- Maintain organized records of inspections, reports, RFIs, and other project documentation.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support successful project completion.
- Minimum 3+ years of experience as a solar superintendent or in construction supervision, preferably on utility-scale or large solar projects.
- Minimum 3+ years of electrical or mechanical background in construction environments.
- 3+ years’ experience as a site superintendent or equivalent role in the solar industry.
- Experience with mechanical, civil, and electrical aspects of solar array installation.
- Strong knowledge of construction practices across civil, mechanical, and electrical disciplines.
- Attention to detail and ability to assess quality of installations and workmanship.
- Experience with electrical construction and electrical components, including familiarity with NEC principles.
- Ability to inspect key elements of the project and identify deficiencies or non-conformance.
- Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize, organize, and schedule work effectively.
- Construction safety awareness and comprehension, including practical application in the field.
- OSHA 10 certification (required; support available to obtain or renew if needed).
- Proficiency with computers and laptops and the ability to learn new software platforms such as Procore and scheduling tools.
- Working knowledge of MS Word and Excel.
- Strong technology background, comfortable using digital tools for reporting and communication.
- Ability to read and understand construction drawings, specifications, and contract exhibits.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Disciplined, self-motivated work style with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to influence others to follow company policies, procedures, and instructions.
- Valid driver’s license and eligibility for corporate vehicle insurance.
- Exceptional leadership skills with the ability to lead and coordinate a diverse group of individuals.
- Problem-solving skills, including the ability to identify, analyze, research, evaluate, and resolve field issues.
- Risk assessment and risk management capabilities.
- Conflict management skills to address disputes and maintain productive working relationships.
- Industrial relations awareness to recognize and help resolve potential labor issues.
- Experience working on solar farms or large-scale renewable energy projects.
- Proficiency with Procore or similar construction management software for daily reporting and documentation.
- Experience coordinating QA/QC programs and maintaining detailed inspection logs.
- Familiarity with racking systems and solar-specific mechanical components.
- Visual thinker with strong problem-solving abilities and a knack for implementing practical solutions in the field.
- Ability to participate in and sometimes lead First Article Inspections (FAI).
- Experience conducting SWPPP inspections and documenting compliance.
- Working knowledge of scheduling software and tools for planning and tracking construction activities.
- Ability to contribute constructive feedback and continuous improvement ideas to project teams.
- Bilingual skills in Spanish are a plus (not required).
- High level of attention to detail, with analytical and organized approach to documentation and reporting.
- Ability to listen, learn, and actively communicate with stakeholders at all levels.
- Comfort working in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities and tight deadlines.
- Willingness to travel to different project sites as needed.
- Experience in quality control roles for general contractors is an advantage.

Work EnvironmentThis role is primarily field-based, with most working hours spent outdoors on active solar construction sites. You will operate from a site trailer that functions as a field office, providing space for planning, coordination, and documentation. The position supports a general contractor performing quality control work on large solar farm projects. Standard work hours are Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., with frequent weekend work; availability to work Saturdays and Sundays is commonly required. You can expect approximately 0–15 hours of overtime per week, depending on project needs. The work involves regular exposure to weather conditions and typical construction site environments, including uneven terrain, equipment movement, and active installation activities. Per diem is provided on days worked when applicable, supporting travel to project sites. Safety gear and adherence to safety protocols are integral to daily operations, and you will use computers, laptops, and software tools such as Procore, MS Word, Excel, and scheduling applications within the site office setting.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $45.00 - $50.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
