Medical Technologist Trainee

Position Summary Laboratory Technician – Lehigh Valley Hospital-Muhlenberg (Day Shift, Monday-Friday 6 am-2:30 pm, 2545 Schoenersville Rd, Primary Location: Lehigh Valley Hospital- Muhlenberg, Onsite) Responsibilities Perform assigned tests under laboratory personnel direction per procedure manual. Ensure quality control requirements are met. Handle biological samples and hazardous chemicals safely. Maintain test systems in control for each test performed. Execute tests according to laboratory protocol schedule. Report problems and deviations from standard procedures to supervisory personnel. Support laboratory policies and procedures. Maintain laboratory areas and equipment in safe, functional, and sanitary condition. Adhere to laboratory safety requirements and use personal protective equipment (PPE). Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in biological science; medical technologist/technician students desired. Knowledge of laboratory techniques, operating practices, policies, and medical technologies. Experience with laboratory equipment. Reading, interpreting technical procedures and regulations; writing reports and correspondence. Strong communication skills, oral and written; phone etiquette and client interaction. Mathematical skills: probability, statistical inference, geometry, fractions, percentages, ratios, proportions. Independent work ability with minimal supervision; teamwork; initiative; analytical and documentation skills. Computer skills: broad technology scope. Certificates and licenses: none required.
