Visitor Services Supervisor, Borderland State Park The Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) manages one of the largest and most diverse state parks systems in the nation and protects and enhances natural resources and outdoor recreational opportunities throughout Massachusetts. DCR is a dynamic agency that manages more than 450,000 acres of parks, forests, water‑supply protection lands, beaches, lakes, ponds, playgrounds, swimming pools, golf courses, skating rinks, trails, and parkways. Borderland State Park, established in 1971, is one of the most historically significant tracts of publicly owned land in the Commonwealth. It encompasses 1,843 acres of woodland and includes three large ponds, many small ponds, a historic mansion, and open fields. Created in the early 1900s by artist and suffragist Blanche Ames and her botanist husband Oakes Ames, Borderland offers walking and horseback riding on over 15 miles of woodland trails, fishing and canoeing on the ponds, winter ice skating and sledding, and an 18‑basket disc‑golf course. The Ames’ home, a three‑story stone mansion built in 1910, still stands with twenty rooms furnished much as they were when the Ameses lived here; many of Blanche Ames’ paintings grace its walls. Borderland State Park is listed on the National Registry of Historic Places. Responsibilities The Visitor Services Supervisor complements the day‑to‑day operations of the facility, implements, monitors and conducts interpretive, recreational and environmental education programs and visitor services at Borderland State Park within DCR’s South Region. The position is responsible for setting planning, developing and implementing the visitor services and interpretive experience at the Park, including the Ames Mansion, the Visitor Center, and other areas within the Park. The incumbent develops and guides the implementation of agency‑approved interpretive treatments and ensures that all programs offered by DCR staff or partners follow approved protocols. The incumbent also ensures that all programs and offerings by DCR staff or partners support the park’s resource management goals and interpretive plan. #J-18808-Ljbffr Department of Conservation and Recreations
