Autodesk Fusion 360 CAD Modeler for AI Training

Role Overview

Apply advanced parametric CAD expertise to help train next-generation AI systems through accurate, production-ready mechanical models and clear technical documentation. This remote contract role focuses on transferring strong 3D CAD experience, particularly Autodesk Fusion 360, to FreeCAD-based project work. Prior AI experience is not required.

Key Responsibilities

• Create fully parametric 3D models of mechanical parts and assemblies from detailed written briefs, using robust sketches, constraints, and feature trees.
• Edit and update existing parametric CAD models as requirements evolve, maintaining manufacturability and specification compliance.
• Audit CAD models for dimensional accuracy, tolerance application, and alignment with design intent, identifying gaps and deviations.
• Provide consistent, high-quality CAD data and document design decisions to support AI model training.
• Apply manufacturing knowledge, including injection molding, sheet metal fabrication, CNC machining, and casting or forging, to optimize designs for production.
• Communicate design rationale, feedback, and technical insights clearly in writing and verbally to support collaboration and ongoing improvement.

Qualifications

• Extensive hands-on experience with parametric CAD platforms. FreeCAD experience is preferred; strong Autodesk Fusion 360, SolidWorks, or Inventor proficiency is also acceptable.
• Practical application of GD&T principles, including ASME Y14.5 or an equivalent standard.
• Demonstrated design-for-manufacturability expertise across at least two to three relevant manufacturing processes.
• At least 4 years of applied experience editing models and at least 10 years of experience creating complex models.
• Proven ability to perform assembly-level modeling as well as single-part work.
• Experience with reverse-engineering workflows, such as scan-to-CAD or point-cloud conversion, is highly valued.
• CAD automation or scripting experience, including Python, iLogic, NX Open, or VBA, is a strong plus.
• Strong attention to detail, problem-solving ability, and clear written and verbal communication skills.

Work Terms

• Remote independent contractor engagement.
• Work centers on FreeCAD, with Autodesk Fusion 360 and other 3D parametric CAD experience directly transferable to the project.

Compensation

$40 to $100 per hour.
