Overview

Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care in a busy ED, caring for newborns, pediatric, adult, and geriatric patients.
- Conduct triage, initial assessment, continuous monitoring, medication administration, and diagnostic testing as ordered.
- Manage high-acuity presentations (e.g., stroke, sepsis, trauma, myocardial infarction, cardiac arrest, respiratory failure) and coordinate with the multidisciplinary team.
- Utilize ED-specific equipment (e.g., Rapid Infusor, Arctic Sun) and adhere to evidence-based protocols for critical care.
- Document all care in EPIC EMR, ensuring accurate, timely, and legible records; participate in patient safety and quality improvement initiatives.
- Floats may be required to other ED units; maintain competency across unit operations and adapt to patient census changes.
- Assume charge responsibilities as needed and provide leadership within the ED nursing team.
- Respond to code situations following established emergency protocols and ensure patient advocacy and privacy.

Requirements
- Active NY Registered Nurse license with Nursys verification; all RN licenses current
- 2+ years of ED experience, with some pediatric exposure
- Travel experience is required
- Certifications in hand: ACLS, BLS, PALS, NIHSS, TNCC
- EMR experience required: EPIC
- Driver’s license with address matching demographics
- Ability to work in a fast-paced ED environment and handle high-acuity cases
- RTO (time off) request must be included at submission
