Registered Nurse – CVICU Float

Location: Utica, New York – Onsite
Contract: 16 weeks
Schedule: Night shifts, 3 × 12-hour shifts per week (36 hours weekly), approximately 6:30 PM–7:00 AM
Specialty: Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) / ICU Float

Position Overview

The Registered Nurse – CVICU Float will provide high-acuity nursing care across intensive care and cardiovascular critical care settings. The ideal candidate will have strong ICU experience, cardiovascular patient-care knowledge, and the ability to float between units based on staffing and patient-care needs.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care to critically ill adult patients.
• Monitor hemodynamic status, vital signs, neurological status, and complex clinical conditions.
• Administer medications, treatments, and interventions according to physician orders and nursing protocols.
• Manage and monitor patients requiring advanced critical-care therapies.
• Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, and multidisciplinary care teams.
• Respond effectively to changes in patient condition and emergency situations.
• Complete accurate electronic documentation and communicate patient updates during handoffs.
• Float between assigned critical-care units as required by hospital staffing needs.
• Follow hospital policies, infection-control standards, and patient-safety protocols.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of recent ICU experience.
• Experience in one or more of the following areas:
  • ICU
  • SICU
  • CTICU
  • Trauma ICU
  • Medical-Surgical ICU
  • Neuro ICU
• Previous travel nursing experience required.
• Current and active New York RN license.
• Current AHA ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications.
• Demonstrated experience with CRRT and Prismaflex.
• Experience using Epic EMR.
• Strong critical-thinking, assessment, communication, and documentation skills.
• Ability and willingness to float between critical-care units.
• Current RN license verification and required professional documentation.

Preferred Qualifications

• 4–5 years of ICU experience.
• Strong cardiovascular and cardiac critical-care experience.
• Experience caring for post-operative cardiac, vascular, or cardiothoracic patients.
• Experience with advanced hemodynamic monitoring and complex cardiovascular support.
• Familiarity with multiple critical-care environments and floating between units.
