Principal Infrastructure Credit

Job Description

A growing investment firm is seeking a Principal to join its infrastructure credit investing team. This senior hire will play a central role in sourcing, underwriting, executing, and managing investments across a differentiated credit strategy focused on asset-intensive and essential-economy businesses.

The role is well suited to an experienced investor who combines strong technical credit skills with commercial instinct, relationship-building ability, and a willingness to take ownership in a lean team environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead evaluation and execution of new investment opportunities from initial review through closing.
\n
• Independently assess business fundamentals, industry dynamics, cash-flow resilience, leverage capacity, and downside risk.
\n
• Structure investments and negotiate terms, documentation, covenants, and protections alongside internal and external partners.
\n
• Build and maintain relationships with sponsors, management teams, advisers, lenders, and other sources of proprietary deal flow.
\n
• Prepare and present investment recommendations to senior decision-makers.
\n
• Take an active role in portfolio management, including monitoring, amendments, follow-on opportunities, and issue resolution.
\n
• Support the development of junior team members and contribute to the continued evolution of the investment process.
\n
• Help shape the firm’s investment pipeline and broader market positioning.

Candidate Profile

\n
• 8+ years of relevant experience in private credit, direct lending, infrastructure finance, leveraged finance, structured credit, special situations, or principal investing.
\n
• Demonstrated experience leading complex transactions and developing a clear independent investment view.
\n
• Deep understanding of credit underwriting, capital structures, documentation, and risk mitigation.
\n
• Strong financial modeling, analytical, and investment-writing capabilities.
\n
• Credibility and confidence when engaging with senior executives, advisers, and counterparties.
\n
• Comfortable working with significant autonomy in a high-accountability, entrepreneurial setting.
\n
• Interest in investments connected to real assets, infrastructure, industrials, energy transition, or other long-duration sectors is advantageous.
