Full-time Regular Glendale, AZ, US 4 days ago Requisition ID: 1753 Salary: $21.00 Annually Job Description Department Transportation Reports To Operations Supervisor FLSA Classification Non - Exempt EEOC Classification Operatives Supervisory Responsibilities Yes No Job Summary The primary responsibility of the Forklift Operator I is to operate a seated industrial forklift and execute various material handling responsibilities, including the transportation of items between different locations to ensure proper operational and inventory flow. This role will identify and transport material to and from storage and staging areas, loading docks, and trucks. Furthermore, it is imperative for the DC Forklift Operator I to be knowledgeable about the machinery and products they are using and transporting. Conducts operational and safety checks on components such as the battery, brakes, lift controls, and fire extinguisher before shift/operation and ensures the daily/shift check list is complete. Signs out equipment daily and immediately reports all equipment malfunction, damage, or incidents to supervisor/manager. Safely proceeds to the designated area to extract, load, and transport merchandise, confirming labels and documentation for each pallet and movement. Ensures the utilization of suitable equipment for each specific type of movement (i.e. properly rated forklift/PIT for the product being moved). Returns equipment to appropriate charging station and prepares it for overnight charging at the end of the shift. Understands and complies with the productive capacity of equipment. Places and removes dock plates at loading dock door and adjusts dock plates to truck floor surface before to use. Handles and dumps scrap or spoilage into dumpster, compactor, or baler and activates the compacting cycle. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications, Skills, Abilities and Educational Requirements Required 6 months – 1 year of experience in warehouse, shipping, or manufacturing environment Certification in forklift or complete training and certification exam upon hire. Experience working in a fast paced and high-volume work environment. Ability to multi-task and manage priorities in an efficient manner Proactive “self-starter” with a strong attention to detail. Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written Valid Driver’s License with a clean driving record Preferred High School Diploma/GED Experience utilizing equipment such as Stacker, Counterbalance forklift, or Electric Jack Inter-Relationships Consistent interaction with other hourly production team members and management. Working Conditions and Physical Demands This position works in a manufacturing work setting. Frequently exposed to seasonal temperatures of excessive cold or heat. Work environment is often loud, dusty and/or dirty due to the concrete materials required for production.
