Job Title: Certified Nurse Assistant

Description:
Under the direction of licensed nursing personnel, performs direct and indirect designated resident care within the scope of practice as defined by certification.
The Certified Nurse Assistant must demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on the assigned unit.
The individual must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development across the life span.
Possesses the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to age-specific needs.
Provides the care needed by adult and geriatric patient groups.
Resident's ADL needs are met as outlined in the plan of care and in accordance with policies and procedures.
Provides services including hygiene, grooming, dressing, incontinence/catheter care, elimination/toileting needs, turning/positioning, skin care, etc.
Documentation is completed per protocol.
Resident's environment and safety are maintained as outlined in the plan of care and in accordance with policies and procedures.
Responds to call lights and alarms promptly, provisions safety mats and low beds, and uses restraint under the direction of Nursing.
Maintains cleanliness of the unit, behavior and fall prevention, and monitors malfunctioning equipment.
Documentation is completed per protocol.
Resident's nutritional needs are met as outlined in the plan of care and in accordance with policies and procedures.
Responsibilities include meal delivery, tray preparation, adaptive equipment, feeding, and honoring resident preferences and choices.

Resident's rehabilitative needs are met as outlined in the plan of care and in accordance with policies and procedures.
This includes range of motion, ambulation, transfers, proper body alignment, and use of assistive devices.
Documentation is completed per protocol.
Reports resident's rights, refusals, and concerns to Charge and/or Supervising Nurse in a timely fashion in accordance with policies and procedures.
Identifies and reports changes in resident physical, emotional and psychosocial status to Charge Nurse promptly.
Occupational exposure to blood borne pathogens is reasonably anticipated.
Required tasks involve potential contact with blood, body fluids, or tissues.
