Massage Therapy Instructor (Part-Time)The Massage Therapy Instructor is a part-time position based at the OCH Campus in Monroe, NC. This role includes up to 27 hours per week of instruction in both classroom and clinical settings. Instructors must be able to teach classes that last five hours or more per day and be available for both daytime and evening courses, with evening classes ending as late as 10 PM. Under the supervision of the Massage Therapy Program Director, the instructor is responsible for planning and delivering didactic and hands-on education in accordance with the standards and regulations set forth by the North Carolina Board of Massage and Bodywork Therapy. The ideal candidate will support student success through engaging instruction, professional mentorship, and a commitment to evidence-informed practice. The Massage Therapy Instructor supports South Piedmont Community College's commitment to student-centered learning and professional excellence. This role involves delivering classroom and clinical instruction, fostering a collaborative learning environment, and mentoring students toward successful careers in therapeutic massage. Instructors are expected to model and promote evidence-based practices in both theory and technique, helping students develop critical thinking and professional standards aligned with current industry research.· Remain current with developments in the industry/field and instructional best practices.· Demonstrate a high level of professionalism, innovation, collaboration, and institutional commitment in all actions.· Exhibit an uncompromising commitment to SPCC as a learning-centered college through the College's mission, vision, values, core skills and learning outcomes, and delivery of instruction and services.· Perform a variety of administrative duties in support of the Massage Therapy education program.· Maintain a variety of regular and confidential documents including general correspondence, reports, class schedules, forms, contracts, and memorandums from rough draft or from verbal instructions; prepare copies of documents; distribute information.· Update and maintain files as requested by the directors; assist with forms and collection of data as requested.· Demonstrate high-level professionalism.· Participate in institutional, advisory, and program/instruction committees, campus activities, and representation of the college in the community.· Participate in program reviews.· Continue professional development for the improvement of self and the program to meet the needs of a learning-centered college.· Maintain current licensure, certification, or other professional credentials required for the position.· Provide accessibility to students and colleagues as expected in a learning-centered college.· Participate in student recruitment, retention, advising, and registration activities.· Perform other duties as assigned by the Massage Therapy Program Director.· Minimum of two years work experience in Massage Therapy.· Current NCLMBT Credential.· Ability to instruct both daytime and evening classes, as late as 10 PM.· Ability to instruct many parts of the curriculum, including Anatomy, Pathology, and Kinesiology.· Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.· Ability to confidently communicate and demonstrate to a classroom of students.· Working knowledge/utilization of word processing, spreadsheet, and presentation software applications.· Associates degree or higher.· Three or more years of work experience in Massage Therapy.· Experience teaching therapeutic massage.· Ability to work on a team of diverse individuals with varying opinions.· A commitment to adjusting curriculum based on modern scientific thought and evidence based practices.· Evidence of being detail-oriented.· Evidence of effective problem-solving, critical thinking, and decision-making skills.· Evidence of a strong work ethic with a proven track record of project completion, multi-tasking, and the ability to handle high-pressure environments.· Evidence of a willingness to accept responsibility for professional and personal growth.South Piedmont Community College provides equal employment opportunities to all applicants and employees based on job related criteria without reference to race, color, national origin, religion, gender, age, disability, genetic information, or any other legally protected classification.
