PreOp Registered Nurse

The PreOp Registered Nurse provides comprehensive preoperative nursing care to patients scheduled for surgery. They assess patient condition, prepare patients for procedures, and educate patients and families about the perioperative process to ensure safety and comfort.

Responsibilities:

• Assess patients’ physical, psychological, and social readiness for surgery.
• Review patient history, physical, diagnostics, and laboratory data, reporting abnormalities as necessary.
• Develop and implement individualized care plans in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team.
• Educate patients and families on preoperative instructions, procedures, and postoperative expectations.
• Document assessments, care plans, and patient responses accurately and timely.
• Collaborate with healthcare team members to ensure seamless patient care and communication.

Qualifications:

• Hold an Associate's Degree or Diploma in Nursing; higher degrees preferred.
• Possess a valid RN license in the practice state or equivalent compact license.
• BLS and ACLS certifications are required; PALS certification within 90 days if assigned to pediatric services.
• Have at least one year of RN experience in PreOp/PACU, ICU, or ED settings.
• Demonstrate strong clinical assessment, communication, and teamwork skills.
