Senior Linux System Administrator

Opportunity Information Management Group (IMG) is seeking a highly motivated Senior Linux Systems Administrator to join our team in Schenectady, NY . This on-site position requires a professional who brings strong technical expertise, exceptional attention to detail, and a collaborative approach to problem-solving. The successful candidate willoversee and maintain current enterprise RedHat Linux environment to ensure the stability, security and performance of these systems, while adhering to U.S. government risk management frameworks such as NIST 80-0-52. Administer and optimize RedHat Linux systems, OpenShift, VMWare, and Cloudera platforms including authentication, cluster management, user management, monitoring, performance and data management Implement and enforce security measures to meet NIST 800-53 standards Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and perform regular maintenance Manage system updates, patches, and upgrades to ensure system integrity Develop and enforce backup and disaster recovery plans Provide support for system configurations, user management, and access control Document system configurations, procedures and updates Collaborate with IT teams to integrate and manage applications and services Salary $110,000 to $145,000 Qualifications Clearance: DOD Top Secret or DOE Q Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, or equivalent experience 4+ additional years of experience in lieu of degree 5+ years of experience with RedHat Linux, VMware, and OpenShift cumulative 2+ years of experience supporting development of information system security authorization packages in accordance with Risk Management Framework (NIST 800-37, 800-53, 800-53a) Demonstrated experience implementing, validating, and remediatingDISA STIGrequirements for Red Hat Enterprise Linux or comparable Linux operating systems. Strong understanding of system security principles and experience with NIST 800-53 compliance Proficient in system performance tuning, troubleshooting, and problem resolution. Experience with scripting and automation (e.g., Bash, Python) Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams Preferred Qualifications: 3+ years of experience with Cloudera Data Platforms (CDP) Experience with Denodo data virtualization Experience with Neo4j development and administration or other graph database technologies Experience with LakeFS, RedHat OpenShift AI or other data versioning and MLOps tools Knowledge of infrastructure security, endpoint protection, vulnerability management tools Relevant certifications (e.g., RHCE, VCP, CCA) About IMG: Founded in 1987, IMG is a nationally recognized small business known for its commitment to excellence, integrity, and customer satisfaction.
