Job Description As a Security Officer Full Time Unarmed Patrol in Poughkeepsie, NY , you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Shelter, and more. As an Unarmed Patrol Officer at a shelter location, you will conduct routine patrols, maintain a visible presence to help deter incidents, and support a welcoming environment for residents, visitors, and staff. You will provide exceptional customer service, communicate clearly, and respond to security-related concerns with integrity and teamwork. Position Type: Full Time Pay Rate: $19.50 - $20.50 / Hour Job Schedule: DayTimeWed12:00 AM - 08:00 AMThur12:00 AM - 08:00 AMSat04:00 PM - 12:00 AMSun04:00 PM - 12:00 AM What You'll Do: Provide customer service to residents, visitors, staff, and service providers while carrying out site-specific procedures and emergency response activities at a shelter location. Respond to incidents, resident concerns, and critical situations in a calm, professional, problem-solving manner, following established reporting and escalation procedures. Conduct regular and random unarmed patrols of interior and exterior areas, including entrances, common areas, parking areas, and the property perimeter, to help deter unauthorized activity. Monitor access points and visitor activity, verify authorization as directed by site procedures, and document security-related observations, incidents, and shift activities. Assist with maintaining an orderly, respectful environment by communicating professionally with diverse populations and contacting appropriate personnel or emergency services when needed. Minimum Requirements: Possess a valid New York State Security Guard License. Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles. Possess a high school diploma or equivalent. As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
