Key Responsibilities

The purpose and role of the incumbent is to serve as the Executive Officer providing executive leadership and direction to all administrative operations and business management activities in the Office of the Assistant Secretary for Public Affairs (ASPA).

The incumbent serves as a key member of the ASPA's top management team and provides executive leadership and direction to all administrative operations and business management activities throughout the ASPA and related activities Department-wide.

As an Executive Officer, you will: Set priorities for administrative, management and information technology (IT) programs and projects and provide direction and advice to all organizational components on efficient and effective strategies to ensure Government resources are efficiently and effectively managed. Provide executive leadership and direction in the coordination and execution of ASPA administrative and business functions.

Develop and maintain intra-agency and interagency liaison, cooperation and working relationships with key experts and professional organizations in the health care, public health, and human services fields, and with State and local officials. Oversee and direct a staff of professional, technical, and support personnel.

Perform associated supervisory and managerial duties, including organization of work groups, determination and adjustment of program goals, policies, objectives, and procedures, and resolution of policy and technical issues referred by subordinate managers for executive-level attention.
