Work Schedule: 7am-3:30pm Monday-Friday

JOB SUMMARY:

The Temporary Janitor, Commercial Contracts will perform specific assigned janitorial duties on-site at the assigned location while working to ensure Goodwill’s standards are met or exceeded. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Works with a team. 
• Sweep and mop floors.
• Clean buildings by emptying trash, sweeping, and cleaning surfaces.
• Clean and disinfect. 
• Vacuuming/Shampoo carpets.
• Use cleaning solutions to remove stains and clean surfaces.
• Mix various cleaning agents requiring knowledge of cleaning chemicals.
• Clean windows, glass partitions, and mirrors, using cleaners, sponges, and squeegees.
• Dust furniture and window ledges. 
• May apply wax to coat floors and buff.
• May strip and top scrub floors.
• Clean and service restrooms with mops and disinfectants. Remove trash from restrooms.
• May move heavy items such as furniture.
• Identify and report possible repairs.
• Monitor building security and safety by performing such tasks as locking doors after operating hours.
• Contribute to a safe working environment for self, customers, and fellow employees.

Education:

• A High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.

Experience:

• One (1) year of previous custodial experience is preferred.

• Must conduct self in a professional manner conducive to a product work environment
• Must demonstrate good judgment, responsibility, and initiative.
• Should possess effective interpersonal skills including the ability to communicate effectively in English to supervisor and subordinates.
• Must be able to work cooperatively, to organize work and make good decisions.   
• Must maintain a professional appearance appropriate for the work setting.  
• Must be a positive team member and work well in a team environment. 

** Ability to qualify for a Fort Carson Installation Access Control Card.

Background checks are required for specific projects, it is the responsibility of Contractor to conduct a 7 year criminal background check on each employee working on a project and forward the results to the designated Utilities’ representative.  A 3rd party vendor shall conduct these checks. Endorsed vendors are Background Information Services ( S2 Verify ( or Hire Right ( The minimum acceptable background checks required by government entities are comprised of a 7 year Statement of History (encompassing full name, alias used, residences, education, employment, citizenship, and military history), a Colorado Bureau of Investigation (CBI) record check, a National Criminal check, and a National Sex offender check. The designated representative will forward all the required documents of the background check listed above to the Security Planning & Compliance team for review. A minimum of ten (10) days must be allowed after an employee may report to work after submitting a background check.  Each employee is required to allow both photographs and fingerprints in order to work at any government facilities where background checks are deemed necessary. **
