Senior Epicor Kinetic Technical Consultant

Our client an established precision manufacturing organization supporting the aerospace industry is seeking a highly experienced Epicor Kinetic Technical Consultant for a 34 month part-time consulting engagement.

The consultant will lead a targeted upgrade of the companys existing Epicor Kinetic 2024.2.19 on-premises environment to Epicor Kinetic 2025 while modernizing existing customizations developed within the legacy Epicor Classic Smart Client to function within the browser-based Kinetic user interface.

This is a hands-on technical engagement requiring strong Epicor upgrade experience deep knowledge of Kinetic Application Studio legacy customization conversion technical troubleshooting and project planning.

The selected consultant will be responsible for developing a detailed project plan assessing existing customizations executing technical upgrade activities coordinating testing with business stakeholders and supporting a successful production transition.

The organization supports approximately 35 Epicor users across Finance Manufacturing Operations Inventory and related business functions.

Key Responsibilities

Epicor Kinetic Upgrade

• Lead the technical upgrade from Epicor Kinetic 2024.2.19 to the approved Epicor Kinetic 2025 release in an on-premises environment.
• Assess the existing Epicor application infrastructure database integrations customizations and technical dependencies.
• Review system compatibility release requirements database considerations and upgrade prerequisites.
• Coordinate backup database upgrade environment preparation and validation activities.
• Identify and resolve technical issues arising during the upgrade process.
• Work with internal IT resources and Epicor Support when required.
• Develop a production cutover plan including rollback procedures and post-upgrade validation.

Classic Smart Client to Kinetic UI Modernization

• Inventory and evaluate existing Epicor Classic Smart Client customizations.
• Identify legacy customization components requiring redevelopment replacement or retirement.
• Rebuild and modernize supported customizations using Epicor Kinetic Application Studio .
• Configure Kinetic layers events rules components data views and user interface behaviors.
• Assess legacy C# customization logic and determine appropriate modern Kinetic alternatives.
• Evaluate BAQs BPMs Epicor Functions REST APIs and related technical dependencies.
• Troubleshoot UI functionality data binding business logic and workflow issues.
• Validate customizations within the browser-based Kinetic experience.
• Document migrated customizations and provide knowledge transfer to internal resources.

Project Planning & Execution

• Develop a comprehensive project plan outlining milestones deliverables dependencies risks resource requirements and estimated effort.
• Establish a realistic schedule aligned with the 34 month engagement and approximately 20-hour weekly commitment.
• Prioritize customizations based on business criticality complexity and user impact.
• Conduct regular project status meetings with Finance IT and business stakeholders.
• Track project progress technical issues decisions and outstanding deliverables.
• Coordinate user acceptance testing and manage issue resolution.
• Provide documentation knowledge transfer and recommendations for ongoing Epicor support.

Testing Validation & Go-Live

• Develop technical testing and validation procedures.
• Coordinate testing of critical Finance Manufacturing Inventory Purchasing and Sales processes.
• Validate existing BAQs BPMs custom reports dashboards and integrations.
• Assist key business users with UAT and issue resolution.
• Support production cutover and initial post-go-live stabilization.
• Ensure critical business processes and customizations function as expected in the upgraded environment.

Required Qualifications

• 7 years of hands-on Epicor ERP technical consulting development administration or implementation experience.
• Recent experience upgrading Epicor Kinetic on-premises environments preferably involving 2024.x and 2025.x releases.
• Strong experience with Epicor Kinetic Application Studio including UI layers events data views and custom application development.
• Proven experience converting legacy Classic Smart Client customizations to the modern Kinetic browser interface.
• Strong understanding of legacy Epicor C# customization frameworks and their differences from Kinetic Application Studio.
• Experience with Epicor BPMs BAQs Epicor Functions REST APIs and integrations.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server SQL queries database administration concepts and Epicor application infrastructure.
• Experience with Epicor Administration Console and on-premises environment management.
• Ability to develop and manage technical project plans independently.
• Strong troubleshooting testing documentation and communication skills.
• Ability to work directly with Finance and Operations leadership as well as end users.
• Comfortable managing a project independently within a part-time consulting schedule.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting aerospace defense precision machining or discrete manufacturing organizations.
• Knowledge of Epicor financial inventory purchasing manufacturing and job-costing processes.
• Experience with Epicor SSRS reports dashboards DMT and external integrations.
• Understanding of IIS Windows Server Epicor application services and deployment configuration.
• Experience with source control customization documentation and change management.
• Familiarity with Epicor Kinetic deployment practices release notes and upgrade testing.
• Experience supporting small to mid-sized manufacturing environments with approximately 25100 ERP users.

1. Documented technical assessment and customization inventory.
2. Detailed project plan with timeline milestones dependencies and estimated hours.
3. Successful upgrade to the approved Epicor Kinetic 2025 on-premises release.
4. Migration of agreed-upon Classic customizations to the Kinetic browser interface.
5. Testing and validation documentation for upgraded functionality.
6. Production cutover and rollback plan.
7. Post-go-live stabilization and resolution of critical issues.
8. Technical documentation and knowledge transfer.

Ideal Consultant

The ideal candidate is a senior Epicor technical professional who has personally performed on-premises Kinetic upgrades and rebuilt legacy Classic customizations using Application Studio.

This individual should be comfortable working independently communicating directly with business leadership identifying potential upgrade risks and delivering measurable results within a limited weekly consulting schedule.

This is not a project-management-only position. We need a hands-on technical consultant who can plan execute troubleshoot and deliver the upgrade and customization modernization.
