Real Estate Associate Attorney

Direct Counsel is seeking an experienced Real Estate Associate Attorney with 4–6 years of commercial real estate experience to join a growing real estate practice.  

The ideal candidate will have substantial experience handling complex commercial real estate transactions, particularly leasing, acquisitions and dispositions, and construction matters . Experience with real estate finance transactions, including mortgage and mezzanine financings and equity investments, as well as related due diligence, is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Advise clients on a broad range of sophisticated commercial real estate transactions
• Handle acquisitions, dispositions, development, financing, and leasing matters
• Draft and negotiate commercial leases and related agreements
• Assist with construction and development matters
• Represent developers, sellers, purchasers, landlords, tenants, institutional investors, and lenders
• Handle real estate finance transactions, including mortgage and mezzanine financings and equity investments
• Conduct and oversee real estate due diligence
• Collaborate with attorneys across practice areas to provide comprehensive client service
• Communicate directly with clients and provide practical, business-oriented legal advice

Qualifications

• 4–6 years of demonstrated commercial real estate experience
• Strong experience with commercial real estate transactions, particularly leasing, acquisitions, and dispositions
• Experience with construction matters preferred
• Real estate finance experience, including mortgage and mezzanine financing and equity investments, preferred
• Excellent written, verbal, and client-facing communication skills
• Strong technical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities
• Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a collaborative team
• Proactive approach with the ability to develop creative and practical solutions
• Admission to the bar in the jurisdiction where the candidate will reside and active good standing required

Work Environment

The firm offers a hybrid work environment , allowing attorneys to work remotely up to two days per week while maintaining the benefits of in-office collaboration.

Compensation

The anticipated base salary range is $180,000–$230,000 , depending on geographic location, experience, skills, qualifications, internal equity, and other relevant factors.
