Job Title: Laborer – Solar Module Installation

Job Description

This role supports solar module installation teams by performing physically demanding outdoor labor in a fast-paced construction environment. You will assist with unloading, moving, and installing solar modules and related components while working closely with equipment operators and installers to meet daily production goals.

Responsibilities

• Assist equipment operators with unloading solar modules from trucks and placing them safely and efficiently in the laydown yard.
• Move solar modules from the laydown yard to workstations, repeatedly lifting 25–30 lbs every few seconds as modules are installed on racks.
• Carry old modules and cables to designated dumpsters and disposal areas in a safe and organized manner.
• Place bolts or screws into appropriate holes to secure modules in place, following instructions and layout plans.
• Use power drills and hand tools to install all modules on racking systems while maintaining a fast and steady work pace.
• Support cable pulling and basic electrical-related tasks as directed, ensuring cables are routed and handled properly.
• Maintain awareness of surroundings in a non-residential construction environment and follow site safety procedures at all times.
• Work consistently to meet or exceed daily production goals and adapt to changing priorities or tasks throughout the day.
• Navigate and work on uneven ground and in varying outdoor conditions while carrying tools, equipment, and materials.
• Collaborate with other team members, communicate clearly with operators and leads, and promptly report any issues or hazards.

Essential Skills

• At least 1 year of experience using hand or power tools in a construction or manufacturing environment.
• At least 1 year of experience performing outdoor work in physically demanding conditions.
• Ability to repeatedly lift 30+ lbs throughout the workday, often at a rapid pace.
• Comfort working in a non-residential construction environment with uneven terrain.
• Mechanical aptitude and the ability to work with tools, fasteners, and basic assemblies.
• Capability to sustain fast-paced, repetitive physical tasks while meeting production goals.
• Willingness to work mandatory overtime, including extended hours and weekends as needed.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with general labor, construction, or installation work.
• familiarity with solar installation, including racking and module installation.
• Experience working as a cable puller or assisting with basic electrical-related tasks.
• Comfort working outdoors in extreme temperature conditions such as heat, cold, wind, or dust.
• Ability to follow directions closely and work effectively within a team-oriented environment.

Work Environment

This position is based in a non-residential construction environment, working entirely outdoors. Typical hours run from approximately sunup to sundown (currently around 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.), Monday through Friday, with mandatory overtime during the week and on Saturdays and Sundays. Weekly hours may reach up to 80, depending on project demands. The worksite includes uneven ground and open-air conditions, and you may work in extreme temperatures and varying weather. The role requires frequent lifting, walking, and standing throughout the day, as well as continuous use of hand tools and power drills to install solar modules and related components.

This is a Contract position based out of Billings, MT.

The pay range for this position is $33.72 - $33.72/hr.

This is a fully onsite position in Billings,MT.
