About the Role

This is a trial-focused civil litigation position at a boutique law firm, open to candidates at the Associate (7+ years) or Partner level. The role sits at the heart of the firm's litigation practice and offers meaningful, hands-on courtroom experience from day one, including deposition and trial work.

• Handle all aspects of civil litigation matters from inception through trial.
• Draft discovery requests, responses, and substantive motion practice.
• Take and defend depositions, often within your first few months.
• Serve as first and second chair in trial proceedings.
• Interact directly with clients, insurance carriers, and claims handlers.

• Active admission to the New York State Bar, with authorization to work without visa sponsorship.
• 7 or more years of post-bar experience in civil litigation, insurance defense, or transferable courtroom work such as criminal litigation.
• Demonstrated experience taking and defending depositions, and first or second chair trial experience.
• Strong legal writing skills; a writing sample is required.
• Experience drafting discovery requests and responses, and conducting substantive motion practice.
• Background in insurance defense litigation or an equivalent civil litigation practice.
• Ability to meet approximately 2,000 billable hours annually.
• A genuine, demonstrated interest in pursuing trial work.
• A sustainable commute to the Fishkill, NY office.
• Background as a DA, public defender, or government litigator is a plus.

Salary range: $150,000 to $200,000 USD annually . Visa sponsorship is not available for this role.

On-site in Fishkill, NY, United States . A reliable commute to the Fishkill office is required.
