Emergency Vehicle Upfit Technician
Central Point Group
The Central Point Group is hiring an Emergency Vehicle Upfit Technician to install and configure equipment in police and other emergency vehicles. We’re looking for someone who takes pride in clean workmanship, enjoys solving problems, and works well with a team.
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m., with weekends and holidays off.
Responsibilities
- Install emergency lights, sirens, control systems, radios, antennas, and power distribution equipment.
- Install consoles, partitions, gun racks, computer mounts, push bumpers, and related accessories.
- Build and route wiring harnesses with secure, protected, and clearly labeled connections.
- Program equipment and integrate it with vehicle electrical systems.
- Diagnose electrical problems using wiring diagrams and test equipment.
- Safely remove and reinstall vehicle trim and components.
- Fabricate brackets and mounting solutions as needed.
- Test completed installations for proper operation and quality.
- Document work and maintain a clean, organized workspace.
Desired Skills and Qualifications
- Knowledge of 12-volt automotive electrical systems, including relays, fuses, grounding, and power distribution.
- Ability to read wiring diagrams and follow installation instructions.
- Experience using multimeters, hand tools, and power tools.
- Strong mechanical aptitude, troubleshooting skills, and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and communicate effectively with teammates.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work inside, around, and underneath vehicles.
- Valid driver’s license.
Experience with emergency vehicle upfitting, CAN bus systems, and Federal Signal or Whelen equipment is preferred. EVT or ASE certification is a plus.
