Maintenance Technician II

Position Summary Maintenance Technicians work within a facility management organization that provides a variety of operation and maintenance services within a 24/7/365 environment that includes clean room manufacturing and office space. Under the supervision of the Facilities and Maintenance Manager, the Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing general maintenance tasks, building/equipment inspections, equipment repairs/modifications, and general labor. The Maintenance Technician ensures ProMed’s brand, philosophy, systems, policies, and procedures are properly implemented and observed. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Use testing equipment such as power meters to troubleshoot and repair electrical systems. Maintain and repair plumbing systems to include water pumps, bathroom fixtures, flush valves and minor drain maintenance as needed. Inspect or maintain all life safety equipment, including exit signs, emergency lighting, eye wash stations, AEDs, fire extinguishers and fire protection systems. Use hand and power tools to perform repairs and maintenance ranging from a complete overhaul to replacing defective components that meet the manufacturer’s specifications. Perform preventive and unscheduled maintenance duties on production equipment. Troubleshoot and repair down equipment. Must be available for on-call as needed and/or scheduled. Hazardous Waste handling. Identify and implement a comprehensive education plan to continually advance technical skills and personal development as well as enhancing organizational effectiveness. Participate in project planning. The employee is expected to develop acceptable work habits, skills, knowledge, and contributions consistent with the Maintenance position level. This job also requires performing other duties as assigned. Qualification, Education & Experience Required High School Diploma or approved GED. 2‑year technical degree plus a minimum of 3 years’ experience demonstrating a high mechanical aptitude or a minimum of 5 years’ experience in applicable field. Must have a working knowledge of the following skills: use of hand and power tools, plumbing/pipefitting, electrical work, carpentry work, blueprint reading, mathematics, and facility equipment operation. Self-starter with a proven ability to successfully work with minimal supervision. Experience replacing HVAC components such as compressors, coils, controls, and heat exchangers. Demonstrated expertise performing electro‑mechanical fluidic circuit troubleshooting, repair, preventative maintenance, and equipment modification. Must be able to work in a collaborative / safety conscious environment. “Safety First”. Must hold a valid state driver’s license. Preferred Experience with MS Office. Problem‑solving and critical thinking skills. Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills. Clearly conveys ideas and receives information effectively. Professional, courteous, and friendly personality. Working knowledge of English (verbal and written). Work Environment Exposure to heated/air‑conditioned, ventilated facilities with florescent lighting. Exposure to building where a variety of chemical substances are used for cleaning, and/or operation of equipment. The noise level in the work environment is usually minor. Physical, Sensory, Cognitive & Neurological Demands The employee may be required to stoop, bend, squat, kneel, reach, stand, walk, lift, pull, push, grasp, talk, hear, see and use repetitive motions. Specific vision abilities required include close vision such as to read handwritten or typed material and the ability to adjust focus. The position requires the individual to meet multiple demands from several people and interact with internal and external people. Employee moves about the building and be able to maneuver in tight spaces between desks, etc. Employee may have duties involving walking on even or uneven surfaces. Employee occasionally or frequently use a whiteboard, which can require grasping whiteboard pens, reaching at, below, or above shoulder height and may require trunk or neck rotation to look back. Employee may use computers, overhead projectors, TV, and other work‑related equipment, which may require an approximately 25+ pound force to push or pull equipment. It is necessary to grasp and manipulate pens, markers, scissors, staplers, etc. occasionally to frequently. Employee must see and hear on a continuous basis as well as speak frequently. Position varies from standing, sitting, walking, etc. On some occasions it may be necessary to move quickly, run, etc. over smooth or uneven surfaces.
