Registered Nurse In Pediatric Intensive Care Unit

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Pediatric Intensive Care Unit Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 06:45 - 19:15 Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years experience in PICU License: Current RN license Certifications: PALS required Must-Have: PALS certification Description: Mission Client is a recognized leader in clinical quality. It has been named one of America's 50 Best Clients multiple times. The facility has achieved an A grade from a national safety organization. It also earned Magnet Designation for nursing excellence. The hospital serves as a referral center for various critical services. There are 9 beds in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit. Patient ratios are 1 RN to 1-2 patients for PICU and 1 RN to 2-3 patients for stepdown. The unit has dedicated health unit coordinators and shared tech support. Equipment used includes Alaris pumps and a Cerner documentation system. Staff must work 3 weekends within a 6-week schedule. Floating to Pediatrics and Neonatal Intensive Care is required. Procedures performed include IV starts, catheterizations, lumbar punctures, and central line dressing changes. There is a focus on hemodynamic monitoring, tracheostomy care, tube feeding and placement, ICP monitoring, and ventilator management. A uniform of navy blue or white is required. Self-scheduling is not available.
