Air Force Reserve Technician Position

The primary purpose of this position is to serve as an Air Force Reserve Technician (ART) position, in conjunction with the Production Superintendent (Pro Super), to assign priorities to aircraft production efforts, to direct action to resolve resource shortages, to maintain liaison among aircraft maintenance management, and to provide training to reservists in the accomplishment of tasks set forth herein.

Duties include:

• Providing both present and projected status information to managerial personnel.
• Noting projected completion date, studying actual aircraft status, and informing higher levels within the chain of command when aircraft is mission ready.
• Maintaining MIS data integrity regarding maintenance flying schedule requirements.
• Maintaining liaison with the Maintenance Coordinating Function (MCF) of the Command Post.
• Conducting training and skill level progression of Air Force Reservists.

Requirements include:

• U.S. Citizenship is required.
• Must be a current member of the AF Reserve or willing/qualified to join.
• Males must be registered for Selective Service.
• Total salary varies depending on location of position.
• This position is subject to provisions of the DoD Priority Placement Program.
• Employee may be required to work other than normal duty hours, to include evenings, weekends and/or holidays.
• Shift work and emergency overtime may be required.
• Employee must maintain current certifications.
• Depending on the type of position (competitive/excepted) you are selected for, you will be required to serve a 1-year probationary period OR 2-year trial period.
• Upon completion of your probationary/trial period, your employment will be terminated unless you receive certification, in writing, that your continued employment advances the public interest.

Qualifications include:

• One (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-07, or equivalent in other pay systems.
• Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree.
• LL.B. or J.D., if related.
• A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%.

Knowledge, skills, and abilities include:

• Ability to plan, schedule, and take corrective action to meet emergency and regular workload requirements.
• Knowledge of assigned equipment and maintenance organizational structures.
• Knowledge of total quality management methodology, tools, and techniques.
• Knowledge of military aircraft and manufacturing terminology, technical orders, data, standards and instructions.
• Knowledge and skill of appropriate production/technical processes and material posture of maintenance work centers.
• Skill in effective written and oral communication.
• Knowledge and skill in the use of automated maintenance information systems (MIS) and aircraft maintenance documentation processes.

Other significant facts include:

• Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance.
• This is an Air Reserve Technician (ART) position. The incumbent is required to meet and maintain Air Force Reserve requirements. Work schedule will be aligned to allow incumbent to fully participate in unit training assemblies. The incumbent's regular assignments are ART duties; however, the incumbent may be assigned some non-ART duties, generally not to exceed 30 percent of total responsibilities.
• May be required to fly in commercial and military aircraft to perform temporary/permanent duty assignments.
