Head Start Classroom Aide

Head Start Classroom Aide Hours: 35 hours per week / 46 weeks per year (Non-Exempt) Location: In Person - Hudson, Valatie, and Craryville Wage: $16.81 per hour Position Summary: The Head Start Classroom Aide supports the classroom team in providing a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate learning environment for eligible preschool children. The Head Start Classroom Aide assists with classroom operations, child supervision, meal service, and maintaining a clean and organized environment. This role plays a key part in supporting children's healthy development and school readiness. Essential Education and Experience: High School Diploma or equivalent required Experience working with young children in an early childhood educational or care setting Willingness to pursue training related to early childhood development Essential Skills, Abilities, and Characteristics: Ability to interact with children in a warm, nurturing, and respectful manner Willingness to take direction and work as part of a classroom team Basic understanding of child development principles or willingness to learn Effective communication and interpersonal skills Organized, dependable, and able to maintain confidentiality Flexibility and adaptability to meet classroom needs Other Requirements: Clean, valid New York State driver's license preferred (may be required at some locations) Must pass New York State Central Register of Child Abuse and Maltreatment inquiry and criminal background check Must complete a medical examination, including a tuberculosis (PPD) test
