Registered Nurse - Labor and Delivery

Job Description

Job Summary:
Provides specialized nursing care to women during labor, delivery, and postpartum, ensuring the safety and well-being of both mother and newborn. Oversees and coordinates care delivery, supervises nursing staff, and collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to support positive patient outcomes.

Responsibilities:

• Assess and monitor laboring patients to identify their needs and progress.
• Develop and implement individualized care plans in collaboration with healthcare teams.
• Administer medications and interventions according to established protocols and patient needs.
• Educate patients and families about labor, delivery, postpartum care, and newborn care.
• Supervise and guide nursing staff and support personnel in delivering quality care.
• Participate in discharge planning to ensure seamless transition and continuity of care.

Qualifications:

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program; BSN preferred.
• Valid RN license in the practice state.
• Minimum of two years recent labor and delivery nursing experience.
• Current BLS certification required; ACLS and NRP certifications preferred.
• Proficient in using EPIC and Cerner electronic medical record systems.
