Accountant

We are seeking a detail-oriented Junior Accountant to join our growing mortgage accounting team. This individual will play a key role in supporting the day-to-day accounting operations with a strong emphasis on Accounts Payable, invoice processing, and maintaining the integrity of the company's General Ledger (GL). The ideal candidate will possess a foundational understanding of accounting principles, be highly organized, and have experience working with GL coding and reconciliations in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
• Process high-volume Accounts Payable transactions, including invoice review, coding, approvals, and payment processing.
• Accurately assign and validate General Ledger (GL) codes to ensure expenses are recorded in the correct accounts and cost centers.
• Review invoices for accuracy and compliance with internal accounting policies and procedures.
• Reconcile vendor statements and resolve invoice discrepancies in a timely manner.
• Assist with monthly, quarterly, and year-end close activities.
• Prepare account reconciliations and supporting schedules.
• Maintain accurate accounting records and ensure proper documentation of transactions.
• Assist with journal entries and general ledger maintenance.
• Support audits by gathering documentation and responding to requests.
• Collaborate with accounting, operations, and mortgage servicing teams to resolve financial questions and discrepancies.
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and controls.

Required Skills & Experience

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
1-3 years of accounting experience.
Strong understanding of Accounts Payable processes and General Ledger coding.
Ability to accurately analyze invoices and determine appropriate GL account allocations.
