STAFF ACCOUNTANT

Location: Rancho Bernardo


Starting Pay Range: $30.00-$38.00 Based on Experience

JOB DESCRIPTION : The Staff Accountant is responsible for preparing and maintaining accurate financial records, executing assigned month-end close responsibilities, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and internal controls. This role is responsible for preparing journal entries, reconciling accounts, assisting with month-end and year-end close processes, maintaining accurate financial records, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and company policies.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Own assigned balance sheet accounts, including preparation, reconciliation, and variance analysis.
• Prepare and post monthly, quarterly, and yearly accruals.
• Review GL accounts and prepare journal entries.
• Prepare financial reports and support schedules.
• Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable functions as needed.
• Ensure compliance with accounting principles, internal controls, and regulatory requirements.
• Assist with internal and external audits by providing requested documentation and schedules.
• Initiate banking transactions as part of the cash management functions.
• Research and resolve accounting discrepancies and variances.
• Maintain accurate and organized financial records.
• Identify and implement improvements to accounting workflows, including automation opportunities and control enhancements.
• Perform thoughtful budget variance analysis.
• Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual account reconciliations.
• Execute assigned close responsibilities within defined monthly close timelines.
• Support directors with month-end and year- end closing activities.
• Other general accounting activities as assigned.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting and two years' related experience required.
• Experience with general ledger accounting and financial reporting.
• Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, data analysis).
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to apply analytical and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet frequent deadlines while working in a fast-paced team environment.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
• Knowledge of GAAP and internal control practices
