EHS Manager

The EHS Manager will serve as the facility's primary authority for all environmental, health, and safety programs. While this role encompasses the full EHS scope, environmental compliance and program management will be the defining strength required for success. The EHS Manager will own all environmental permits, regulatory reporting, waste management, stormwater, air quality, and wastewater compliance programs — while also leading safety culture, incident investigation, training, and OSHA compliance across the forging operation.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Environmental Compliance & Program Management — Primary Focus Own and manage all environmental permits, licenses, and regulatory authorizations including air permits, NPDES stormwater permits, industrial wastewater discharge permits, and hazardous waste generator registrations Prepare, submit, and maintain all required environmental regulatory reports including SARA Tier II, Toxic Release Inventory (TRI), SPCC Plan, SWPPP, Title V or minor source air permit annual reports, and state-specific reporting requirements Manage hazardous waste generation, storage, labeling, manifesting, and disposal in full compliance with RCRA and applicable state regulations — maintain generator status compliance Oversee stormwater program management including SWPPP development and maintenance, quarterly inspections, sampling and monitoring, and corrective action documentation Manage air quality compliance including tracking regulated air emissions, maintaining operational records for emission units, and ensuring permit conditions are met for forging presses, furnaces, quench tanks, and finishing operations Develop and implement Environmental Management System (EMS) programs, policies, and procedures aligned with ISO 14001 principles Conduct internal environmental audits; coordinate and prepare for external regulatory inspections and agency visits Evaluate the environmental impact of new processes, equipment, capital projects, and chemical introductions — support permitting modifications as required Manage chemical inventory, SDS compliance, hazardous materials storage, and spill prevention across the facility Track and respond to changes in federal, state, and local environmental regulations; communicate impacts and implementation requirements to plant leadership Safety Program Leadership Own and manage all OSHA 29 CFR 1910 General Industry safety compliance programs including LOTO, confined space, machine guarding, electrical safety, hearing conservation, respiratory protection, and emergency response Lead incident investigations including near misses, first aids, and recordable injuries — drive root cause analysis and corrective action closure Manage OSHA 300 recordkeeping, reporting, and submission requirements Develop, deliver, and track all required EHS training programs for new hires and existing employees Conduct regular floor audits, hazard assessments, and job safety analyses (JSAs) across forging, heat treat, and support operations Build and sustain a proactive safety culture through behavior-based safety programs, employee engagement, and visible leadership Reporting, Documentation & Cross-Functional Collaboration Track and report EHS KPIs — TRIR, DART, near miss frequency, environmental compliance status, and regulatory deadlines — to plant leadership on a regular basis Maintain all EHS documentation, permits, inspection records, training logs, and regulatory correspondence in an organized, audit-ready state Manage contractor EHS program including prequalification, site orientation, and on-site compliance Partner with operations, maintenance, and engineering on capital projects, process changes, and new equipment installations to integrate EHS requirements proactively

QUALIFICATIONS

Required 5+ years of EHS experience in heavy manufacturing — forging, foundry, stamping, steel, or comparable industrial operation strongly preferred Demonstrated expertise in environmental compliance program management — air permitting, NPDES, RCRA hazardous waste, SARA Tier II/TRI, SPCC, and SWPPP Working knowledge of OSHA 29 CFR 1910 General Industry safety standards Experience managing all aspects of hazardous waste from generation through disposal, including manifest preparation and generator compliance Proven ability to manage environmental regulatory reporting deadlines and agency relationships Strong written and verbal communication skills — able to prepare regulatory submissions, write technical reports, and communicate compliance requirements clearly to plant leadership Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Occupational Health & Safety, or a related field — significant field experience considered in lieu of degree Preferred Direct forging, foundry, or high-temperature metals manufacturing EHS experience ISO 14001 Environmental Management System implementation or auditing experience Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM) or Professional Wetland Scientist (PWS) Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Associate Safety Professional (ASP) Experience with Title V or major source air permit compliance OSHA 30-Hour General Industry certification #J-18808-Ljbffr United Employment Group, Inc.
