Staff Attorney - Farmworker Rights Project

Position Overview Iowa Legal Aid’s Farmworker Rights Project is recruiting a staff attorney to focus on labor and employment issues faced by migrants, seasonal farmworkers, and temporary agricultural workers in Iowa under the H-2A visa program. Job Responsibilities The farmworker rights staff attorney will provide a broad range of legal services to clients including advice and brief services, litigation at all levels from administrative to state and federal court, and direct outreach to farmworkers. The attorney will travel to areas where farmworkers live and work. Outreach largely occurs evenings or weekends during the summer months, with opportunities year‑round. Qualifications Applicants must be law school graduates licensed to practice law in Iowa, be eligible for admission on motion, or be available for the next scheduled bar examination. Prior experience practicing in federal courts or with poverty law issues is preferred. Location & Travel Western and Central Iowa geographic locations are strongly preferred.
