Radiologic Technologist

Radiologic Technologist at Hartford HealthCare-GoHealth Urgent Care provides a variety of technical procedures and applies prescribed ionizing radiation for radiologic diagnosis of patients in our urgent care centers. The position includes performing and analyzing patient X‑rays, reporting results to medical providers, and providing administrative support to ensure efficient operation of the centers. Ensure patients are positioned correctly and protected during use, including pushing patients in wheelchairs. Prepare patients for examination: conduct interviews, verify medical history, record vital signs, and conduct preliminary physical tests. Perform point‑of‑care testing as needed (flu, strep, urinalysis, ECG, HCG) and provide information to the provider. Maintain medical records, scan charts to patient files, and conduct courtesy call‑backs for patient follow‑up. Follow operating instructions for daily controls, calibration, and quality assurance logs; troubleshoot equipment breakdowns, perform preventive maintenance, and submit repair tickets. Collaborate with ordering/treating providers to determine the best procedures and views for diagnosis and treatment. Support clinic operations to keep the center running smoothly. Explain procedures to patients, ensuring their comfort and safety. Accurately position patients and equipment for optimal imaging. Select proper ionizing factors, adjust radiographic controls, and capture clear, high‑quality images. Perform routine maintenance, cleaning, and manage supplies for X‑ray equipment. Adhere to radiation safety protocols and implement ALARA principles. Maintain accurate patient records and log completed procedures in electronic systems. Verify image quality and ensure images are sent to radiologists for interpretation. Essential Functions Provide daily X‑ray services, ensuring compliance with patient positioning and safety standards. Conduct patient preparation and rooming, including flow communication with technical staff. Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date medical records. Perform calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of X‑ray equipment. Collaborate with the medical team to determine appropriate imaging procedures. Qualifications & Education Graduate of an approved Radiologic Technology program. High School Diploma or equivalent. Experience in a clinical setting preferred. Licenses & Certifications Basic Life Support (BLS) required at the time of hire (obtained through the American Red Cross (ARC) or American Heart Association (AHA)). American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) registration required. Applicable state licensure as a Radiologic Technologist required. Skills & Knowledge Knowledge of X‑ray procedures, protocols, anatomy, physiology, and body mechanics. Knowledge of radiology equipment and safety hazards. Ability to position patients correctly and identify equipment problems. Follow infection control and radiological safety procedures.
