Growing together.The Intake Specialist is responsible for receiving referrals from sources and ensuring they are processed through the intake process in a timely manner. The Intake specialist is also responsible for obtaining the patient's benefits, prior authorizations and/or predeterminations, as well as communicating with the patient and their families as well as the referral source to determine their needs, medical history, physical and mental state, and special requirements.You'll enjoy the flexibility to work remotely from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges.Primary Responsibilities:Processes orders from referral sourcesAssesses patient needs upon arrivalResponds to all phone and fax inquiriesVerifies patient's benefits and eligibility for requested servicesObtains all necessary information required to process a prior authorization if applicableCompletes all patients start of care paperworkRelays insurance coverage to referral source/patient and discuss financial responsibilities and any need for financial assistanceEnter all new patients into the databaseReceives and uploads all documents received into patient's fileMonitors referrals and assess any of their needsAssists clients and staff with referral questions when neededYou'll be rewarded and recognized for your performance in an environment that will challenge you and give you clear direction on what it takes to succeed in your role as well as provide development for other roles you may be interested in.Required Qualifications:High School Diploma or GED equivalent2+ years of experience in infusion therapy, specialty pharmacy, or a related healthcare service (e.g., benefit verification, prior authorization, or patient access)Proven experience working with healthcare insurance plans, including eligibility, coverage, and authorization processesProficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook) and ability to learn new systems quicklyDemonstrated solid customer service and communication skills, with the ability to support patients, families, and referral partners in a professional and compassionate mannerDemonstrated attention to detail, organization, and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environmentDemonstrated ability to work independently in a remote setting while adhering to productivity and quality standardsPreferred Qualifications:Experience with intake of home infusion or specialty pharmacy servicesExperience coordinating with nursing agencies, field clinicians, or referral partnersDemonstrated familiarity with authorization portals (such as Availity, NaviNet, or payer-specific systems)Proven working knowledge of EMR systems such as WeInfuse, CPR+, or EpicProven understanding of medical terminology, CPT/HCPCS, and ICD-10 codesAll employees working remotely will be required to adhere to UnitedHealth Group's Telecommuter Policy.Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, we offer benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). The hourly pay for this role will range from $18 - $32 per hour based on full-time employment.
