Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education, active Special Education Teacher license and minimum 1+ years Special Education Teacher experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
Step into a rewarding role supporting elementary students as a Special Education Teacher. This contract position is designed for a compassionate and dedicated professional ready to make a meaningful difference in the lives of K-5 learners in the East Lansing and Detroit areas. With a full-time schedule of 37.5 hours per week, Monday through Friday, you'll have the opportunity to work in a collaborative school environment while providing essential services for students who need it most.
Ideal candidates will bring expertise, enthusiasm, and a genuine desire to champion the academic and social growth of children. This assignment runs through June 15, and strong candidates may be considered for renewal. We are also welcoming applications for the 2026-2027 school year.
What we're looking for:
- Active Special Education Teacher certification for the state of Michigan (MI)
- Experience supporting students in grades K-5
- Strong classroom management and collaboration skills
- Understanding of IEP development, implementation, and progress monitoring
- Ability to foster an inclusive, supportive learning environment
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Delivering individualized and group instruction based on student IEPs
- Assessing student progress and adapting teaching strategies accordingly
- Developing and maintaining thorough educational records and reports
- Partnering with general education staff, related service providers, and families to ensure student success
- Participating in IEP meetings and school-wide initiatives
