The Role and Impact As a Sr. Principal Engineer, Software Application Architecture, you will play a critical role in defining and driving the technical direction of software architecture across client, cloud, or enterprise domains. You will design scalable, secure, and resilient software solutions while influencing development tools, coding standards, and protocols to ensure optimal performance. Business group Intel's Software group is dedicated to advancing software technology to complement and enhance Intel's hardware solutions. The team works across diverse domains, bridging product innovation and software ecosystems to deliver impactful solutions. Key Responsibilities - Own the technical architecture for the end-to-end telemetry platform, from field and validation data collection through the data lake to insights delivery. - Drive the crash analytics and reliability modeling stack that accelerates root cause analysis, de-duplicates failures, and reduces escapes at scale. - Scale ingestion and analysis across millions of endpoints and thousands of data points while sustaining high flighting success across platform programs. - Partner with product architecture, validation, quality, and customer-enabling teams to turn telemetry into business actions and revenue-impacting decisions. - Set engineering standards, mentor teams, and define the metrics and predictive models that track platform, ingredient, and OEM quality health. - Lead the development of in-field and app telemetry solutions that is scalable and secure software architectures across client, cloud, or enterprise domains. - Formulate technical strategies aligned with organizational goals to deliver cutting-edge products to market.

Qualifications:

Education and experience Bachelor's in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field with 12+ years of experience; or Master's with 8+; or PhD with 6+. 10+ years building field telemetry and data collection systems at scale, spanning millions of endpoints and thousands of data points. Technical depth Deep knowledge of Intel client platform architecture and OS internals across Windows and Linux, including crash and reliability paths such as BSOD, live kernel dumps, machine checks, and event logs. Proven software architecture skills for scalability, security, and resiliency in high-volume ingestion, storage, and analysis pipelines. Hands-on development experience with modern data lake and analytics stacks (Snowflake, Databricks, cloud services), plus the ability to define coding standards, tooling, and validation processes. Applied analytics or machine learning experience for failure classification, bucketing, de-duplication, anomaly detection, and predictive quality trending. Experience delivering telemetry-based validation infrastructure supporting platform onboarding, flighting, and data collection. Leadership and collaboration Demonstrated success driving technical direction and execution for large-scale software programs. Track record partnering with external parties - OEMs, Microsoft, and third-party telemetry providers - to establish new data-sharing partnerships. Ability to influence cross-functional teams across validation, quality, product architecture, and customer enabling to turn telemetry into business action. Communication and presence Excellent communication skills, able to articulate complex technical strategies to engineering and business audiences. Experience presenting at industry conferences and participating in standards committees. A passion for technical excellence and for delivering solutions that measurably improve product quality.

Annual Salary Range for jobs which could be performed in the US: $257,740.00-363,860.00 USDThe range displayed on this job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target compensation for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Work Model for this Role
