In this role, you will engage with clients at a high level to assess their industrial operations, identify energy efficiency opportunities, and lead projects from data collection through feasibility analysis and reporting — while building strong client relationships and mentoring peers along the way.

What You Will Be Doing

• Lead, manage, and direct high-profile projects, maintaining accountability for on-time performance, quality, and results
• Calculate energy savings for system or equipment changes using existing calculation tools, original spreadsheets, and/or generally accepted methodologies
• Engage with clients at their industrial locations to understand their equipment and operations, identify energy efficiency opportunities, and provide recommendations
• Build and grow client relationships and identify opportunities for new work, while presenting complex technical issues clearly to diverse audiences
• Compose energy efficiency project reports and document performance through data collection from customer sources or installed data logging equipment
• Maintain expert knowledge of utility programs and compliance requirements, provide peer mentorship, and bring experience with custom programs across commercial and industrial projects

This is a full-time, exempt position located in the Chicagoland Area (Hybrid) . We are also open to candidates just outside the immediate area with a willingness to travel regularly within the customers service territory. Travel up to 20% annually is expected, with occasional day trips to customer sites or customer meetings.

Qualifications

Applicants for this role are required to have:

• Bachelor’s Degree (or higher) in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering, or a related field of study
• 5-8 years of engineering experience
• Expert technical knowledge of refrigeration, compressed air systems, steam systems, custom computer modeling of systems, electrical distribution system design, industrial control, and data-logging of system results

A successful candidate should also demonstrate these preferred characteristics and/or skills:

• Strong critical thinking, problem solving, and decision-making capabilities
• Ability to work both independently and in a team environment
• Strong project management and organizational skills with excellent attention to detail
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to comfortably interact with internal and external customers and stakeholders
• Proactive, resourceful, and highly motivated to achieve project results
• Experience with custom utility programs and working across both commercial and industrial project settings
• Experience mentoring other engineers

Compensation & Benefits

The salary range for this full-time, exempt position in the Chicagoland Area, IL is $101,640 - $152,460. At Cascade, transparency and fairness are core to how we work.
