Auto Service Technician

Colony Tire is currently seeking a full-time Automotive Service Technician to join our team! Our technicians work for competitive pay in a fast-paced environment. Summary Employee will be required to perform tire and auto-related service as well as other duties as assigned by the manager. Essential Tasks and Responsibilities (Base) Follow established procedures to inspect tires, wheels and vehicles before and after service. Review work orders and discuss work with supervisors. Document work performed accurately and according to company policy. Raise vehicles using hydraulic jacks and/or automotive lifts. Unbolt and re-bolt wheels from/to vehicles, using lug wrenches and other hand and power tools. Mount and dismount tires onto wheels. Identify and inflate tires correctly for the size and ply. Place wheels on balancing machines to determine counterweights required to balance wheels. Hammer required counterweights onto rims of wheels. Replace valve stems and remove puncturing objects. Rotate tires to different positions on vehicles. Perform routine and scheduled maintenance services such as but not limited to oil changes, and lubrications. Road test cars as directed by management. Pull vehicles in and out of shop safely. Essential Tasks and Responsibilities (Retail Service) Perform routine vehicle maintenance, including oil changes, tire rotations, fluid checks, and brake inspections. Diagnose and repair automotive issues including, but not limited to, engines, transmissions, suspension, and electrical systems. Use diagnostic tools to identify and troubleshoot mechanical problems accurately. Provide customers with accurate service recommendations based on diagnostics and inspections. Ensure all work is completed efficiently and meets safety standards and Colony Tire’s quality expectations. Maintain clean and organized workspaces, adhering to Colony Tire’s safety and cleanliness protocols. Communicate effectively with service advisors and other team members regarding repairs, parts needs, and any additional service recommendations. Follow up on repair orders and maintain detailed service records. Stay up to date with new automotive technology, service procedures, and manufacturer specifications. Provide excellent customer service, addressing any questions or concerns in a professional manner. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Mechanical – Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance. Operation and Control – Controlling operations of equipment or systems. Operation Monitoring – Watching gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly. Time Management – Managing one’s own time. Knowledge of commonly used tools – Ability to recognize and use a variety of tools, including but not limited to power tools such as pneumatic wrenches, machine tools, such as lathes and grinding machines, jack and hoists, and common hand tools. Operating Vehicles, Mechanized Devices, or Equipment – Running, maneuvering, navigating, or driving vehicles or mechanized equipment, such as forklifts, or passenger vehicles. Performing General Physical Activities – Performing physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping and handling of materials. Inspecting Equipment, Structures, or Material – Inspecting equipment, structures, or materials to identify the cause of errors or other problems or defects. Making Decisions and Solving Problems – Analyzing information and evaluation results to choose the best solution and solve problems. While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particles and outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. The environment may or may not be air‑conditioned/heated seasonally. Employees frequently work with dirty and greasy parts and in awkward positions. The employee must regularly lift up to 100 pounds, frequently lift and/or move more than 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. As a result, minor workplace injuries are not uncommon, but employees usually can avoid serious accidents if safe practices are observed. Education High school or equivalency, and/or related experience is preferred but not required.
